Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] smoke from exhaust, the cars warm too. any ideas?

Hey Dan Have you checked your oil cap and dip stick to see if there is any contamination in the oil which also sometimes points to a HG fault but this time of year you do alot of moisture and this can leave some amounts of mayo after short drives. When you pop over next weekend we can have a look fo...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] got some problems...peak hp at 5k rpm, 212whp...ct20b

That is quite a bit of boost creep for it to be jumping to up to 15 psi on actuator pressure. I would check your downpipe or downpipe gasket is not fouling on the wastegate by manual moving the actuator or using a foot pump to see when the actuator opens. HTH :thumleft: Do a search on actuator and f...

Definatly Does not stay closed when converting to a rev3 ecu jim and the pin where the tvis is on a rev2 is not used on a rev3 so no power will be going to the tvis solenoid to let vacuum through into the actuator which closes the valves when engine is running. So will remain constantly open Have ch...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 350-400 bhp on a rev1

All pistons have a different silicon content which alter the clearances needed.

Wossners may have more silicon content, rejecting more heat so the expansion rate is not as much.

But too much silicon content is not good in some engines

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Mapping - cant decide

Thats the only downside buddy, just have check forecast and plan ahead.

Good things come to those who wait though.

Plus you can beat the feeling when your driving the car during mapping.

I remember the first time paul put 2 bar of boost through gt30 when driving. Scared the crap out of me

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Mapping - cant decide

Paul just maps on the road as its the better way to map as you cant simulate load and air supply like the road on a dyno. But he is having a brand new dastek dyno fitted (same a P.T) in late feb earlier march so will be able to give Bhp figures after mapping.

Cams

Hi Andy, Piper do offer some good cam kits and depending on what profile you use you can get some good noticeable gains. With any cam kit you will need to get some vernier/adjustable pulley's, these are they only accurate method of timing cams properly. Your internals will only need replacing if you...
