Re: [Mk2] old is the new new.

Heya fella, Front strut brace seems to be quite a significant improvement. Surprised me as to be honest I hadn't expected that much but steering response does seem to be better. That said overall stability seems to be much improved by widening the rear track with the spacers. I have much more confid...

Re: [Mk2] old is the new new.

Thinking about filling the bumper but it's much more cost hence the panel relocation in meantime. Photoshopped it to preview the filled effect and I'm currently trying to decide if it's worth the cost... Cant agree with the vents looking tacky though... with the silver trim line they match I think t...

[Mk2] old is the new new.

Hey all. Had my 2 for over 7 years with no mods but since starting to look on this site over the last 6mths I've gone mod mad. Lots of stuff to aid handling/roadholding, all round driveability and sound (wider rear track, lower centre of gravity, chunkier steering, better gearchange and much improve...

spacers fitted...

Hiya guys, thx for feedback.
So if camber doesnt change what will? Had them fitted now and have to say car feels good, definately feels more surefooted and looks far superior. What might change? Surely not toe in/out as this is all controlled by the hub is it not?

[Mk2] [NA] rolling roads...

Hey all.
Just thinking of getting my '89 rev1 n/a dynoed to see what its giving after 166000 miles.... I'm in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, anybody know of somewhere reasonably close, knowledgeable and reliable?
Suggestions appreciated...
Cheers,
Rob.

tyres

Yokohama AO22's all round for me. 195/55/15 and 225/50/15 on 7" all round. With good geometry they're decent in the wet and fabulous in the dry. Not cheap but not rediculously expensive either... if you can get em.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] INSURANCE - IMPORTED N/A MR2

Heya dude,
Silly q but when you tried adrian flux did you ask if it would make any difference if you were a member of the mr2dc? That way you get on the club scheme rather than just a random quote...
Good luck,

et45 wheels

Heya mark. 1 inch extra width (about 26mm) on your fronts means you lose 13mm inner clearance and gain 13mm outwards IF the et stays the same. I run 7x15 fronts but my et of 35 means I only lose 3mm inner clearance and the wheel sits 'out' 23mm so no probs with fouling. You dont say if your on stock...

[Mk2] [NA] spacers fitted...

Hey all,
Fitting 15mm H&R spacers to my 15x7 rears tomorrow (current et 35). Will I need to get alignment checked again? I'm thinking rear camber angles, or will it make v little difference?
Anyone else done this?
Cheers,
R.

[Mk2] [NA] do these wheels exist?

Hey all, Just finishing modifying my '89 mk2 rev1. Stock for 7yrs ownership till this yr when I've gone mad. Last thing to be done are wheels/tyres. Currently on aftermkt 15x7 (et 35) all round (wearing 195/55 and 225/50 yokos) which were on the car when I bought it. I'm looking for a 15x6.5 front (...

Re: steering wobble above 120 kmph

Are they aftermarket wheels? If so it's not something silly like a missing spiggot ring is it? The only reason I ask is this happened to me about 4 mths ago. New tyres fitted, spiggot 'lost' by the 'fitter' , prob ensued, balance then balance some more then whip wheels off for suspension inspection ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] How should i spend £1000 on the car?

Hiya mate. Gota agreee with turbo G on this one but I'd add a change of gearbox oil (to redline) if that hasn't been done for a while as well. With all fluids and filters changed you'll be in a much better position to see/feel any real 'issues'. IF there are no probs after this I'd then go for a qui...

Re: [All] [Generic] Short Shifter - any good?

Hiya mate,
Cant vouch for that one but I got a proper TRD version from Fensport and it is as they say 'the dogs'
Cant recommend it enough but it was about £100ish!! Well worth it at that figure in my view.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] suspension - secondary angles

Cheers for that info mate, think I understand.
Does this mean that the SAI can't be altered?
How would it be out then (only by 20sec or so but...)? Is it to do with chassis alignment?

[Mk2] [NA] suspension - secondary angles

Hey all, My query is about secondary angles after a 4 wheel alignment. I understand camber, toe and castor but what about SAI (supposed to be 13 degrees 50) and Included Angle. Any ideas what these mean and how important it is to have them spot on. How are they adjusted or cant they be? Any info gra...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Gear Knobs

Ohhh Yessssss. TRD Quickshift is about the best mod I've done. Improved my gearchange very dramatically. I'm gona change the knob itself though to something a little taller. Only because my box feels like I want a little more leverage than the tiny TRD allows to help the change. What I mean by that ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] lowering

Hiya mate. What rev you got? I think ride height changed between some of the revs. Also what sort of condition are your shocks or will you replace them also? Are you on stock wheels and tyres? All this will effect which springs are right for you. I've got a n/a rev1 on standard and fairly old shocks...
