'sills' behind the rear arches
not sure what they are called.. the bits of metal low down behind the rear wheels that rot and fall off  are they available anywhere? year after year I have fought a losing battle with bodyfiller and rust remover and zinc 182 etc. the rear mudflaps have long been in storage in my garage lol I ...

Re: Toy Car
Aww man that is so cool
Although it's bloody brilliant it doesn't quite hit the nail on the head tho unfortunately. He's either got to be able to play with it (like a 2 year old would) or get in it and pedal lol
It's probably what.. ideal for 5 years time

Re: Newly awaited Club website now live
I was a bit foxed by the registration screen. it seems to be white text on a very light yellow background.. gives the impression the interface is 'locked out' at first. Only realised stuff actually was being accepted, when I managed to highlight it.. nearly gave up and left. might want a css tweak t...

Re: Rusty problem - advice from welders?
I might be able to help you out with that, I'm mobile with the welder now but I'm up near Liverpool so I don't know if the cost of fuel for getting me down to yours & back might make it economically a nonstarter.. Guess it's an option if you can't find anyone closer. I'd probably be inclined to ...

There is a single-hose, one wire plus earth, vacuum switch associated with the cruise control system but it's normally attached to the bulkhead in the middle, on a plate with the cc's vacuum pump. and if you haven't got cc anyway.. http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=54036&postdays=0&am...

Has anyone tried this in the UK; how feasable would it be to sort out registration / tax / insurance etc over here?

Re: Mk1b OE Alarm Intialisation
In addition to twiddling the adjuster in the fob on mine, I had to carefully resolder the battery terminals to the board to get it to work reliably. They looked okay at a glance but on very close inspection the solder had developed very fine cracks.

Re: What the ????
Found this browsing around, which seems to feature some dyno data.. no idea if it's valid info. Not enough power available from the existing electrical system so they went to a seperate battery bank!
ack, can't bookmark it so select 'esc electric supercharger'.

Re: Quick alternator question
I was curious as to what was inside, I can't quite remember the exact details but I had to weld some bars up at one point to prise it apart. Wasn't too worried if things snapped as I had a bunch of spare alternator parts handy. If I'd known at the time that it could be refurbed for that sort of mone...

Re: Quick alternator question
Seem to recall a post of Jimi's not long ago which mentioned crud & rust & stuff getting stuck between the rotor and the stator being a very common cause of this. It's supposed to be a very small gap. About a year ago I took my alternator apart because it wasn't spinning freely & indeed ...

Re: Battery - dead ?
I don't know whether it's generally considered a good idea or not, but I have borrowed a battery off a diesel mondeo in the past a few times in similar circumstances - and nothing bad came of it. Maybe a 'wrong battery' might allow too high a charge rate once started and that might have negative con...
