Sounds like you used the wrong grade - the pressure relies on the viscosity of the oil remaining fairly high when its up to temp. Some modern oils are quite thin and might be the cause.

Personally I use 15w50 although I think the Toyota recommended is 10w40?

What oil have you used?

I ran 86.5mm overbore CP pistons on mine, although I know of plenty of people who cracked stock blocks on stock pistons.
