Re: jonno's MKII Turbo

oh yes i understand what he was saying. I just couldn't understand why not weld it up and go external. You won't get a better responce than a good external wastegate. Got one on mine. Perfect boost control. No spikes/creep anything regardless of weather. Tim xxxx Welding the wastegate is a bad thin...

Re: jonno's MKII Turbo

Can you divulge a little more about the acuator mods and the compressor wheel? Thanks for advice. James The compressor was recommended by Turbo Dynamics, essentialy its slightly longer and smaller in diameter than the previous wheel design - im not sure but I would guess they are standard on the 30...

Re: CHARGE COOLER + WATER INJECTION ??

My cossie mates dont rate WI, primarily because they run 7:1 CR engines at 2 bar with RS500 IC's - they dont suffer from det, at all, ever!. So amazingly they dont see the need for det control. My Jap car mates love WI, primarily because they are running 8.8 or 9:1 CR engines with tiny turbos, they ...

Re: jonno's MKII Turbo

Hi Jonno, Just wondering, How you rated the GT28, I know you liked it originally. I'm hoping for 300-350@wheels so the 3071 might be slightly too big, plus i'd probably go with slightly smaller exhaust cam. I'm really after a quick spooling, quick, safe setup, not pushing the block too hard, any ti...

Re: Oil Pressure Drop

Sounds like you used the wrong grade - the pressure relies on the viscosity of the oil remaining fairly high when its up to temp. Some modern oils are quite thin and might be the cause.

Personally I use 15w50 although I think the Toyota recommended is 10w40?

What oil have you used?

Re: Good charge cooler hose (st205)

I run the aquarium 19mm clear stuff from my local hardware store - it failed last summer when my pump broke and the water stopped flowing, obviously the heat from the downpipe melted the hose and what was left of the CC coolant drained all overt the circuit - nice :) Having said that, I am still run...

Re: Toyo R888 V T1-R V T1-S

I rate the R888. Most Toyo's are pants though. I suspect most trackday junkies dont like them much because they were designed for heavy jap cars and not superlight spaceframe cars with bike engines ;) Take some heating up before they work. Seem OK to me in the wet as well - although I havent been o...

Re: Who has actually cracked their block???

I ran 86.5mm overbore CP pistons on mine, although I know of plenty of people who cracked stock blocks on stock pistons. To be brutally honest its a real lottery on rev3+ blocks, the variation is huge, some will probably take an overbore and still never break and others will break at the first oppor...

Re: GT Battle/Time attack

I am dead keen on the GT Battle thing if were going to run a team next year. I never did like the 1/4 much. I suspect its partly down to once being thrashed by a nearly new diesel golf GTI with a superchip and a million bhp worth of nos that dented my interest ... and partly because im not very good...

Thats true enough, making power from these things is relatively straightforward - its keeping them running at that power thats the tricky part :)
