Re: Clutch problem

It could be that the release bearing is worn or does not have enough lubricant so it is sticking and causing judder. The clutch cables could be badly aligned or worn. The worst case is that the flywheel is badly scored. However with the burning smell I suspect the clutch is not disengaging properly.

Re: touch in paint help please

Eventually got Paint International to mix up some paint. Exact match so I have been able to touch in all the little marks. Not exactly a promising start to MR2 ownership that it is so difficult to get a simple thing like some touch in paint.

Re: touch in paint help please

Well this one was no where near the shade, It took about 20 minutes and about seven colour mixes and it was still not right. But again they called it Ultra marine.I have since spoken to Auto Paint International who said that it is impossible to mix such a colour on a small scale so they are sending ...

Re: touch in paint help please

I tried Halfrauds and again a total waste of time. According to them no such colour as Zircon blue only Ultramarine which was far too dark. I will try someone else.

Re: MR2 Overheating, please help a stupid person.

The tests for a blown head gasket are carbon monoxide in the water or water getting into the oil. The carbon monoxide test should have been done by the AA. As I recently had a similar problem with an MX5 . The AA patrolman was able to confirm the head gasket was alright by means of a device to test ...

Re: MR spyder

If you buy directly from Japanese auction using a Japanese agent to translate the notes there should be no surprises when you get the car. Why pay somone to do what you can easily do yourself ?

Re: MR spyder

I never look at importers in the UK as you are paying them quite a premium to buy a car. This particular car from Rushcorp would have been around £6200 on the road if you had done everything yourself

Re: head gasket or somehting else? bit of help please :)

On a similar car I once had the fluid was being lost through the heater matrix and causing the passenger carpet to get damp. It could also be a leaky pipe from the engine bay to the front. As these pipes are enclosed they can be difficult to inspect. You will have to pick a dry day to have a good lo...

Re: how do i stop my coolant gurgling

In all cars the temperature will rise after the engine has switched off. But as your car is a turbo you are supposed the let the car idle for a few minutes to allow the engine to cool down. This is why Turbo owners fit a Timer to allow the engine to cool down properly after running. Indeed it is qui...
