Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Bootlid

Or get yourself the bootlid from a early MK2 with the 3S-FE engine, which had no spoiler. Pretty sure that's what Rob Shipp has. If you have a Mk2 Rev1 or 2, you still have the holes in the wing tops to see to. Spray finishing then becomes a more major job, too. Also, the aerial fit becomes a probl...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Leaky window

Yes, I had this too. No big problem to fix yourself, though it is a fiddle. First, get a tube of Gutter Seal from B&Q or similar - Obviously you'll need a gun as well. Loosen the lower panel behind the seat, take out the T-Bar glass if fitted, and then you should be able to remove the plastic su...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Sump Pan Removal Advice

They're only thin steel and they rust through very easily.

Can't see where mine is leaking from but am sure that's the problem.

[Mk2] [NA] Sump Pan Removal Advice

Some advice would be appreciated.

Need to remove the sump pan on my N/A Rev2.
Can I get it off and replace it from underneath a well raised up car without removing anything ? If not, what needs removing to get it out ?

Any other advice would be great.
Thanks.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Getting second key cut

Your key will have a transponder in it and needs to have a matched one in the new key too.
If you take it to one of the heel bars, they can probably read the transponder and clone one into the newly cut key. They do where I live anyway.
Think the cost is around £25.

[Mk2] [Generic] Smartening up brake discs.

The wheels on my Two are spoilt by slightly rusty discs and hubs behind them - Obviously only where the pads don't keep them shining ! Has anyone painted them up on the non-wearing surfaces and if so what colour and paint have they used ? Would high temperature motorbike matt black exhaust paint be ...

[Mk2] [NA] Door unlocking problem

Have a Rev2 with key locking, not plip. I do not have an alarm fitted. Problem is that I can lock both doors from the inside of the car with the switch on the driver's side door but then cannot unlock them with the same switch, not the slightest sound is made. Tried a borrowed switch panel and the s...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Colour Coded T-Bar Glasses

Well, took the glasses to the bodyshop today to find out if this can be done properly.
Apparently it can by first applying a special glass primer and then spraying with the top coats and lacquering. I'm assured it would last.
The cost ? £150 + Vat.
Is that a bit strong do you think ? :-s

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Colour Coded T-Bar Glasses

I was thinking the same thing the other day but I too like the fact that you can see skyward. I fancied painting a 2 to 3cm strip along each side to give the illusion that the car has a roof (like my girlfriends glasstop CRV) as that might solve the 'lines' problem t-bars have. Yes, I'd thought abo...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Colour Coded T-Bar Glasses

Yes, mine have already been tinted. That's not the issue.
On certain colours of the Mk2's the t-bars look, frankly, terrible !
Some colours are OK, but Zircon Blue with black glass is not right.
I've got a spare set of glasses so may give the colour change a try.

[Mk2] [Generic] Colour Coded T-Bar Glasses

Strange question this, but has anyone successfully colour coded their T-Bar Glasses ?
How did you go about it, and has the paint remained on the glass for a fair period ?
Thanks in anticipation

[Mk2] [NA] Brake calipers have had it. What to do ?

Brake calipers are knackered on my Rev2, so looking to replace/overhaul them all etc.
Anyone done this recently ? What route did you go down and what was the overall cost to you?
Thanks

[Mk2] [Generic] Genuine Toyota Mudflaps. Fit or Not ?

Got hold of a set of original Toyota Sculptured mudflaps for my Mk2 recently.
Fitted these and not too sure about them now. Think they look a bit dated.
Your opinions welcome. (Sorry, no photo. You know what they look like I hope !)

Anyone able to advise how to remove the rear quarter air vents behind the glass so as not to break the clips and hook eyes off ?
I've never mastered this.
Thanks.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Lost key - How to get another?

So, went to my local Toyota dealer to order another key. "Phew. Toyota haven't supplied these for 5 or 6 years now - So many thieves want to get hold of keys to steal cars." he says. "Got a V5C" says I. "Sorry, still can't help you. Only thing I can do is to order a complete...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Lost key - How to get another?

Thanks for that. Removed door locks and boot lock, (Can't remove ignition lock without the key I think) and the only item with a number stamped on is the driver's door lock. It's one letter + 4 numbers, similar to say Y 5295. Is that the number? Anybody an idea how much Toyota will charge me for a n...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] boot lids

Yes, BUT you will need to remove the pair of original side spoiler fins from your car, fill the holes and match respray, probably the rear quarters - Also respray the new boot lid/spoiler to the colour of your car. Could be quite expensive.

[Mk2] [NA] Lost key - How to get another?

Lost/mislaid the only key I have to my Mk2. Not a problem in as much as it is only only the road in the good weather.
However, is the key number marked on any of the locks or ignition switch ? If not, how do I find the number to get a new key ? No transponder in it by the way.
Thanks.

1992 'K' UK MR2. Needs Box. £350 !

Firstly - This is NOT my car, so can't give any more info than I have here. Please respect this. I've seen it in someones driveway for sometime now, and seeing the owner today asked what was happening to it. Apparently the AutoBox has given up and needs replacing. It's a UK car with moonroof. The bo...
