Re: TRACKDAY and ACTIVITY WEEKEND! *Rockingham 22nd/23rd Sept*

Hi all, It was good to see a few MR2's out on track at one go. I had a really good day, especially as my new discs held up and didn't crack or warp. The heat paint indicated that they were getting to in excess of 630 degree C though! I'm surprised that you thought the standard of driving was good Jo...

Re: TRACKDAY and ACTIVITY WEEKEND! *Rockingham 22nd/23rd Sept*

Bedford, Donnington, Silverstone, Brands, I was bored before the end of the day in all my first times out there. Unless I've someone to race with / timing, which BAT are a bit sharper at spotting than other TDOs, half a day is more than enough. Soiunds like trackdays aren't for you then if you find...

Re: TRACKDAY and ACTIVITY WEEKEND! *Rockingham 22nd/23rd Sept*

Having driven there i don't think the track is boring at all. I've driven at quite a few tracks now and Rockingham is my second favourite after Donington.

Re: TRACKDAY and ACTIVITY WEEKEND! *Rockingham 22nd/23rd Sept*

Mine was the stripped out red one in the car park. Tom's was the mica blue SC. We were there to support and passenger with Sy Taylor and his dad in their 'new' MK1 for track which still needs a fair amount of suspension work doing to it. It was quite amuzing to see the car wizzing around with the b...

Re: TRACKDAY and ACTIVITY WEEKEND! *Rockingham 22nd/23rd Sept*

I'm also interested to see how the S2000's perform against an MR2 turbo. I never tracked my old rev2 turbo and apart from attending my first trackday at Donington with the IMOC a few years ago, i've never seen one on the track when i've been driving. The s2k handling should be much better, but i'm i...

Re: TRACKDAY and ACTIVITY WEEKEND! *Rockingham 22nd/23rd Sept*

Anybody care to say how suitable rockingham will be for a virginal track outing as a driver? Only ever driven at brunters in a gallardo for 5 laps or so... very interested in this... Rockingham is pretty good for track newbies i'd say. There is plenty of run off everywhere except of the banked corn...

Re: TRACKDAY and ACTIVITY WEEKEND! *Rockingham 22nd/23rd Sept*

Saw a couple of your S2k club mates at Donny the week before last Dony on the 31st July? I was there for the evening session. I saw a couple of Mk1's in the car park and on the track. which one was yours? and had a good chin wag with them about your brakes  what, mine personally  Brak...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] got a water leak

If it's dripping off the plastic tray? just hope it ain't the coolant pipes Why? He's stated it's from the front, so isn't going to be the pipes that run a long the top of the fuel tank #-o Depending on where the break is in the coolant pipes and how flat the road is where the car is parked, you ca...

Your thermostat is stuck open. Not a major problem but you want to get it changed asap.

Re: TRACKDAY and ACTIVITY WEEKEND! *Rockingham 22nd/23rd Sept*

Jonny @ Bookatrack wants to try a bit more of a structured thing with the wet grip - hence the half day. Details are tbc, but would involve several sessions out on the wet stuff, and classroom based stuff AFAIK that might be better. The s2ki club day was the first time bookatrack used the wet grip ...

Re: TRACKDAY and ACTIVITY WEEKEND! *Rockingham 22nd/23rd Sept*

you do use your own car on the wetgrip.

If bookatrack are still offering the 30 minute options, i'd go for that. Having been on the wetgrip, its good fun. But 30 minutes is more than enough.

You went out with Peter in his slightly moddified s2000 then? Fairly nippy isn't it :D

Big thanks to Si (Cook), Garrick, Dave, Si (Skin) and the S2K guy for the passenger laps!!

Re: [All] [Generic] Changed brake pads & now it feels like the brakes are constantly on??HELP PLEASE

I wouldn't have believed it if i hadn't read it.

Why on earth doesn't the BGB suggest using a clamp to push back the pistons.

I would help with your CV joints, but it wasn't something i ever had to do to my '2, and my '2's been gone for a few years now.

Re: IMOC trackday

A fully floating disc is basically a brake disc secured to the hub via an aluminium bell housing as per http://www.dba.com.au/2006/products_5000.asp I use ferodo ds2500 pads which are well up to coping with the heat of track work and just don't fade. I've actually managed to get my discs red hot usi...

Re: IMOC trackday

and its unlikely that i'll have drilled discs on my car again unless i can find some proper fully floating discs and aluminium top hats. Drilled discs are just a consumable, much like brake pads. I see any disc as a consumable along with pads, but you'll never find a drilled disc on my car unless it...

Re: IMOC trackday

urban myth. You can't cast holes in brake discs just because of the nature of the moulds. What's more likely is that porsche position the holes much more carefully and allow for holes in their casting design. Ie thicker webs where the holes are etc. IIRC Porsche actually cast the holes in their disk...
