[Mk2] [Turbo] ARP Main Studs - Sump modifications required for clearance?

Hi guys,

im buying all the bits to forge my engine at the moment, and found some chatter on some US forums from 2010 ish stating the main studs if using ARP are too long and hit the sump the flywheel end of the engine.

Has anyone modified their sump? or used toyota bolts instead etc?

Cheers
Ross

Re: JDM Import Rev 2 Turbo - Megasquirt install. Anti lag. 2 step.

Well the last few weeks I've been purchasing loads of rev 3 engine bits ready for my forged build. Still waiting on a few bits but im getting there. I've basically built an entire gen3 engine from parts. Also had some more car presents arrive :-) Full engine gasket set https://i.imgur.com/U5vKKmz.jp...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Headlight upgrades

I've been running PIAA bulbs in Raybrig housings for a while and I was pretty impressed how well they worked for halogens. Then I saw a japanese dude on instagram with some raybrig LED bulbs, after searching the raybrig website these appear to be SW20 specific although I'm not sure if they only wor...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Catch can/breather

I'm not sure to be honest. I have the gauge but i still need to install the sensor. Same with oil pressure. The short story is the clip holding the wires for the sensors snapped leaving the wires directly under my dump tube so they were melted. It's something i intend to fix. Also, Totally hijacked...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Catch can/breather

It's an aftermarket/custome thing. Bought it off my mate. The wiring and fuse box has been moved to the boot too. Unfortunately we measured the wires for the coils and injectors wrong. They were supposed to be under the intake out of sight :( Throttlebody is a Q45 just FYI :) It'll look a lot bette...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Catch can/breather

The smaller one goes back to the inlet manifold. The larger one just vent to a catch can. The smaller one needs a PCV valve. 100% i seem to be finding conflicting ideas on both and ive seen plenty of US guys just using a catch can for the 2 breathers (AN fittings welded to rocker cover, no actual p...

Re: My 400whp saga, 373whp after mapping.

I did buy it yeah, Garage next door to my recording studio had it up for sale, (the guys who painted my mr2). It was pennies so paid what it was worth haha. It actually drives really well and is stupidly good on fuel. The mr2 has been sat in the drive doing nothing. Hoping to have the fuel system s...

Re: My 400whp saga, 373whp after mapping.

Yeah as soon as possible. I've a 70 mile round trip for uni everyday and a 30 mile round trip for work every night. I just couldn't face putting the mr2 through that. My mate Kris is gonna mock up the new injectors and rail on another head so its ready to fit. I need to sort out my electrical issue...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Catch can/breather

I'm building up a rev 3 engine. I'm looking to vent the 2 breathers on top of the rocker cover to a catch can. Reading around loads of people have differing opinions on if this is ok. My rocker cover has no breather valves at all. Can I just vent the holes in the cover to a catch can? Or is it a lot...

Cheers guys. I've started sourcing rev3 engine bits. So plan is to build an entire new engine to swap in. Then sell my rev 2 turbo engine as a whole. :thumleft:

[Mk2] [Turbo] Headlight upgrades

Found a few old threads of people doing custom projector upgrades for the mr2 however this was 5 years ago now. What are the options these days? Anyone using LED? Any good off the shelf kits available for our cars? My stock headlights are shocking. Even more noticeable after driving the Mrs Merc wit...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 2 3sgt3 engine - 3sge square edged block swap

why use a 3S block when the 5S block is more reliable and likely a better base for power / torque... just a thought :-k Not sure how it bolts up to rev2 head etc but they use them in the states (and here) so must be possible Purely because they're hard to come by. And requires a lot more work to ma...

Sure, it just means buying more stuff ive already got. Id like to use as much as possible from my rev2 turbo engine. my goals around 400hp for now, Presume the rev2 head will be ok for that.
