Rusty sills. Worth repairing or not?
I have seen an MR2 Rev3 i think that has quite badly rusted sills. Just wondering if you guys think if its worth repairing or not. The rest of the car is pretty sound just faded. Had a look underneath and can only see 1 other place where it needs a patch on it. My friend is an MOT tester and confirm...

MR2 Turbo Clutch
Been enjoying my rev3 turbo since sorting out the misfire issue. Covered approx 300 miles over the weekend just cruising about however noticed that the clutch was starting to slip occasionally. Where would be the best place to buy one? car is relatively standard other than exhaust / inductionkit and...

Re: Exhaust gasket [where from? Rev3 Turbo]
i'd appreciate that and yes it was suggested by the chap at the counter to take off the exhaust and measure which I said would mean booking at a garage paying labour just the get the measurement, then re-fitting and doing it all over again once I buy an item to fit

Exhaust gasket [where from? Rev3 Turbo]
I am looking to replace the exhaust gasket that fits at the joint after the back backbox as the one on my REV3 Turbo seems to be leaking from there. I had recently replaced the stock item for a mongoose type one a while ago and am pretty sure the garage didnt put a new gasket or even the old one bac...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Can noisy fuel pump be the issue?
Well still not got the car back. Managed to find a perfect fuel tank with oem pump so got mechanic to fit that and hopefully solve the running issues.
However he has noticed some very minor coolant leak from some pipes [hoses from hell?] so going to see about bypassing with rubber pipes I believe.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Can noisy fuel pump be the issue?
I'm assuming the first guy loosened it enough to drop the tank on one side just enough to get his hand in and remove the fuel pump.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Can noisy fuel pump be the issue?
Had my mechanic ring earlier he said the fuel pressure is decreasing as the car gets on boost so upon further investigation he removed the tanka nd noticed it was quite rusty at the bottom and had contaminated fuel / water from when the car had been stood for a few years and I filled up with Vpower ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Can noisy fuel pump be the issue?
New cap and rotor arm fitted drove faultless for about half and hour revved to 6500 rpm without an issue and then around 3k rpm it started 'bogging' down again. So its fine for a while and then coughs / splutters.
Booked in with a local mechanic now as its beyond my abilities

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Can noisy fuel pump be the issue?
I did check the Coilpack / ignitor a few months ago and it was fine with no visible cracks.
Plugs done again today. Ordered blue print dizzy / rotor for tomorrow and then leads.
Where is best place to get a genuine coil pack.. Toyota ??

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Can noisy fuel pump be the issue?
Appreciate you clearing that up for me - as you can see i'm not that mechanically minded.
I think best to replace usual culprits first [dizzy cap / rotor etc] and then see.

[Mk2] [Turbo] Can noisy fuel pump be the issue?
Following on from my other thread re the misfire. I replaced the fuel pump with a walbro off a member on here a few months back and thought it was noisy compared to oem but assumed it was normal. It drove fine once this was changed. It makes a high pitched whine continuously however the noise change...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] real BAD misfire
I didnt get chance myself to do any further investigation so got a friend to take it to his garage so I have somewhere dry and warm to have a look. However on the way to his he stated it was spitting flames when I was getting upto around 3k rpm. When I originally started it up from cold it sounds an...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Temp Guuges not working
Much appreciated. :thumleft: The gauge sensor you mention is the one I was checking on my car, The plug going into it looks like someone has done a DIY on it. Will investigate further this weekend. Out of curiosity is the sensor from a Rev5 NA the same as a Rev3 turbo [its just I have access to a br...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Temp Guuges not working
So the more I start to use my car the more issues I seem to come across. Other than the misfire which I am hoping to get sorted this weekend my temp gauge does not move at all. The car is also fitted with an aftermarket temp gauge and that also doesnt either. The radiator fans cut in and out when it...
