Re: Wandering MR2...
Thanks for the replies. The UJ looks to be in pretty good condition but I will give it a proper check. It feels like the movement is in the rear of the car but there is nothing obvious to be seen. Ill try and get the car up on a four poster to give it a thorough checking over... it seems to have go...

Wandering MR2...
Hi everyone, been a MK2 owner for a while now and ive recently taken the leap into MK3 ownership... Generally my MK3 drives and feels great but sometimes I can definitely feel some lateral movement while driving in a straight line and with the steering wheel straight, it feels almost like driving o...

Re: Cam belt failure engine damage?
Sorry for the delayed follow up on this one...! It was indeed a timing error; with this rectified the engine started immediately and no sign of any damage (touch wood!)

Cam belt failure engine damage?
Rev5 UK NA Hi guys, recently had a cam belt failure caused by a seized water pump. Had the engine out and replaced all the necessaries. The engine is now back in and ready to be started again, however it doesn't' want to know. Getting 6 bar compression on each of the cylinders, which is low but odd ...

Re: Rattling noise...
Thanks for the replies I think I can be pretty sure now that it's the water pump; it started to make some new, slightly more concerning, noises along with increasing engine temperature, so that's her off the road for now. Anyone know of a decent brand water pump to buy? I don't wanna skimp and buy a...

Rattling noise...
A rattley kind of noise has started coming from my engine bay; can only really hear it at tick-over or low revs and doesn't seem to change whether or not the clutch is engaged or in different gears etc. There doesn't seem to be any other symptoms at the moment. It's hard to track down exactly where ...

If you do end up looking at custom exhausts check out Longlife; you can check for their nearest shop to you on their website.

Catalytic converter / exhaust system
I've been running my current Rev 5 NA with a de-cat & mongoose exhaust since I bought it but have recently switched to standard OEM cat and exhaust, the only other mod is a pipercross panel filter. I've been surprised with how noticeable the power-loss is having switched back to the stock system...

Re: Remote Locking programming
Yeah, it has the Toyota emblem on it and sticker on the back with serial number etc. It also looks exactly the same as the locking fobs I've seen/had for other MR2s

Remote Locking programming
Hi all, I've just bought another Rev 5 however one of the previous owners must have lost the remote locking key fob... Does anyone know if it would be possible for me to re-program the key fob from my current MR2 on to my new one? I've found posts on how to reprogram keys, but not the actual remote ...

Re: MR2 PRICES.
Seen a couple of immaculate Rev 1s recently on eBay, both the most expensive NA MR2s I've ever seen. One with 30 something thousand miles- just under £8k, the other with just 6 thousand miles- just under £18k... Will be interesting to see what they go for in the end.

Spark plugs...
Going to be getting some new spark plugs for my Rev 5 NA soon and wondered if anyone has any recommendations? It has Bosch ones in at the moment, which seem to be fine, although the IS200 crowd (previous car was an IS) seemed to have had bad experiences with Bosch. I normally buy NGK but I guess the...

Re: Limited Slip Diffs
Yeah... was giving it some coming out of a junction the other day and all the power was going to the unloaded rear wheel.
Dissapointing; especially given the owners manual is basically lying saying that the car has one..!

Re: How much does a mr2 mk2 na weigh?
I've always had 1,270kg in my head but not 100% sure where that's from; probably Wikipedia and Gran Turismo, haha. I've been recording my mpg using an app for a bit and I currently have an average of 31.23 mpg over 10 fill ups. My previous car was a Lexus IS200 (2 litre straight six. Weight about 1,...

Re: Limited Slip Diffs
My manual also says that, but I'm almost certain mine does not have an LSD. What does the transaxle code say on your VIN plate in the front? Mine is 472. It's in the long number at the bottom, the full version of mine is: 2CELB23- 472 S54 2CE = Sonic Shadow paint LB23 = interior trim code 472 = tra...

Re: Limited Slip Diffs
Just got my Dad to check his owners manual (he has a UK Rev 5 NA) and on page 92 it says: "Limited-Slip Differential Your Toyota is equipped with a limited-slip differential. If one rear wheel begins to spin, the limited-slip differential is designed to aid traction by automatically transmittin...

Re: Limited Slip Diffs
I had a late model UK Rev 5 (2000 V reg) before and in the owners manual it said that it had an LSD, I've got a 1998 Rev 5 now but unfortunately don't have the owners manual for it. I thought that sometimes, trying to get the power down pulling out of junctions, it feels like the diff is open which ...

Limited Slip Diffs
Hi everyone I've heard mixed things about Rev 5s with LSDs; some people have said that all Rev 5s have LSDs others have said that only later ones had them. Can anyone clear this up? Is there any sure way to see if your MR2 has an LSD (other than dumping the clutch at high revs and seeing how many li...
