Re: Cadwell Park - In the Rev5 Tubby (Video + Drone footage added)

Yeah it took all morning to be honest. First time I'd properly been off on a track day. Wasn't really enjoying myself up until the lunch break but by the afternoon I was just about back to normal. Off to Blyton Park next weekend so should have some fun then.

Re: Cadwell Park - In the Rev5 Tubby (Video + Drone footage added)

Yeah that was me. My last track day had been at Cadwell in the damp in November - I span off at Charlie's and hit the tyre wall half way down park straight so this session was all about trying to get my confidence back up. I'll come say hi if I see you about again :)

I think I might have been at the same day as you. You guys looked pretty quick - what have you done to make your cars more track friendly?

Re: Can you start classing a 1990 Mr2 as a classic?

My '92 is insured on a classic policy with Footman James - costs around £160/year on a limited mileage policy. That's for a turbo with declared mods (decat etc).

Re: Getting a 3rd gear crunch after changing clutch slave cylinder

Thanks for the info guys. I was thinking it was the 3rd synchro based on other people's posts but I couldn't understand why it suddenly happened after changing the slave. The point about bleeding it is very interesting, I'll give that a try and see if it helps improve it for now.

Getting a 3rd gear crunch after changing clutch slave cylinder

Hi all, My clutch slave cylinder recently started leaking, ending up with losing all pressure and unable to change gears. It's been to the garage and had a brand new one fitted but now I have a crunch every time I change into 3rd gear. It doesn't matter if the car is cold/warm, changing up or down, ...

Re: Did my alternator just die on me?

I had the same three lights come up on my dash. Was on my way to take it to the garage when I realised that all the electronics were slowly turning off. Eventually it died completely. Garage thought it was the alternator because it wasn't charging the battery. They replaced it. Same problem. Turned ...

Can anyone help configuring Apexi AVCR?

I've recently installed an Apexi AVC-R to my Rev 2 turbo (with a Ct20b turbo swap). I'm trying to set it up following the instructions and guides online but it doesn't seem to behave as I expected. If I set the target boost to be 0.8 bar then I can set the duty so that the car will hit 0.8 bar but i...

Re: Low idle when cold, high idle when warm!

My garage has now checked the operation of the ISCV and it's working fine. They also replaced the ECU coolant temp sensor but the problem remains. We've both checked all over for any vacuum leaks and we can't find any. Anyone else have any suggestions? Does anyone know anyone in Yorkshire who can ru...

Re: Low idle when cold, high idle when warm!

No I've not tried that. I'll give it a try asap. I've read other people will similar problems were related to the ecu water temp sensor so I might try changing that as well. Any other suggestions would be appreciated - I've seen a few people who ended up changing a lot of bits to try and get to the ...

Low idle when cold, high idle when warm!

Hi all. I've got a strange problem on my 93 rev 2 turbo and it's been like this since I bought it. When you first turn the car on it will idle at low revs - around 800rpm. If it's cold then this causes the engine to struggle and sometimes die, I need to give it some revs for a couple of minutes to g...

Whiteline arbs - front, rear or both?

I was planning to get a matching set of front and rear whiteline arbs for my track-only rev 2 turbo. At a recent track day I had some tuition from an instructor and he recommended I just get a front one and leave the rear as standard. He said this way the car would be firm enough at the front to red...

I can second footman Jones. I don't have an agreed value but I pay 150 a year for my modified turbo.

Re: Best size wheels/tyres for track use?

Thanks for all the input guys - it's very interesting!

So a quick question to those recommending 17" - assuming the car had a good suspension setup, what advantage does a 17" have over a 16"?

Re: Best size wheels/tyres for track use?

Oh no - conflicting advice! Now I'm even more confused :? Having looked into coilovers a bit more I think they are a bit out of budget for the foreseeable future so I'll need to stick with what I have for now. I'll probably polybush as the next step after the new wheels to make a start on improving ...

Re: Best size wheels/tyres for track use?

Also, does it make much difference what rim width to go for? It looks like 225/50/R16 can fit on anything from 6j to 8j. Is there a preference? Thanks

Best size wheels/tyres for track use?

Hi all. I recently picked up a rev 2 turbo to use as a track toy :D Had my first day at Cadwell at the weekend and absolutely loved it. There is a small problem with the wheels though, it came with 17s fitted and they a) need spacers so I get quite bad wheel wobble at 60 - 80mph and b) when cornerin...

Re: Cadwell 11/3/16

I took my new rev2 turbo to Cadwell on Friday for it's first track day - had a great day and was starting to get a lot more comfortable towards the end of the day. Watching your vids I can see you are a good 5 - 10 seconds a lap quicker than I was (when my Mrs accidentally timed me from the cafe whe...
