Re: rev 3 turbo in getting worked on and serviced soon

Im removing the ac due to it being dead weight. Ive read that it weighs 20kg Not exactly a stripped out car but every little helps. Im a little ocd when it comes to weight saving, anything broken gets removed, fixed or replaced with better parts. Regarding DIY jobs, i have no experience with these ...

Re: Checking shifter cables for wear - popping out of 4th

If you take the cables off their shafts at the gearbox end (simply remove clevis pin and slide off) you will see they have a rubber bush with a thin brass insert tube. This tube wears and distorts over time http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i369/janolsson/mr2%20project/gearbushtop.jpg These can b...

Checking shifter cables for wear - popping out of 4th

Hey guys, Any idea on what the visual checks are for the cables, it seems since changing the gearbox oil recently its decided to pop out of 4th once every 5 shifts. I've read this could be the cables, but can't find anywhere that mentions what I should be looking for. Any help appreciated. Thanks Au...

Re: Downshift into 3rd grinding - just had recent oil change and worse than before

Changed this over the weekend. The grinding has become a lot quieter (pretty much how it was before, so that's good I guess) Weirdly though I only used 3.5 bottles, (3.2 litres) before the oil started coming out of the filler cap. I ordered 5 bottles as I was assuming 4.5 litres, and we did drain it...

Re: Alternator replacement Rev2 Turbo

Just did mine a few weeks back on my rev3 turbo. I was able to do it in my driveway. Had to remove my exhaust to get it off. From what I can remember, after taking the exhaust off, you have to take the belt off and then loosen the pivot bolt and take another bolt off too. Once this is done you rock ...

Re: Hand brake cables? All the same?

Yeah I think there's a chance it may be the caliper but thought try the cheap stuff first especially as I know the rubber boot on my cable is split anyway.

Where did you get your calliper from? Brand new or refurbed?

Thanks

Hand brake cables? All the same?

Hi all, I've got my MOT coming up and need to change my handbrake cable as it does nothing when applied. My question is how do I know which cable is for a Rev 3 turbo? As the only ones on eBay mention 89-99 (pagid) but doesn't mention if its suitable for a turbo. Is there even a difference? Thanks A...

Re: Downshift into 3rd grinding - just had recent oil change and worse than before

Hey Gazza, It was my uncles garage so the gearbox oil was changed FOC - I dont have the heart to tell him its grinding more :O but i'm assuming he would of used suitable oil as he owns a rev2 himself. Yep it only happens in third will try double clutching when the weather a bit better! its been snow...

Downshift into 3rd grinding - just had recent oil change and worse than before

Hi everyone, My Rev3 tubby has been grinding for almost a year now (synchro issue I guess), although its been pretty quiet and under 30mph there was no grind when going back into 3rd. I've recently had my cambelt replaced and the garage had to drop my gearbox oil. I've no idea what they filled it ba...

Re: Rattling noise...

had a rattling noise recently on mine coming from the cambelt area, turned out to be a loose screw that gave way and dropped in. had the tensioner changed too - so could of potentially been this too

Heat cycling r888s

Hi guys, Happy new year Just looking to buy some r888s ahead of summer. I had a question about heat cycling. Can you do this without going to the track first? From what I've read you should bring them up to temperature and allow the tyres to cool for 24-48 hours. My questions are: 1) is it possible ...

Re: Cam belt

What's the average price for getting this done?

Although I do fancy giving it a go myself... A year ago I knew pretty much nothing but have since changed the exhaust, alternator, radiator valve cover gasket.

Is this harder on a turbo? Might just get it done if the price isn't too steep.

Re: URGENT HELP - Misfire on boost, Silverstone on Monday :(

Thanks all. Small update... I disconnected the boost feed going to my ebc and turned it off. This obviously meant there was a slight boost leak but the car was pulling fine. More importantly the missfire had gone. This meant working late into Sunday night, just before throwing the towel in we decide...

URGENT HELP - Misfire on boost, Silverstone on Monday :(

Hi guys Was driving today at about 70mph and hear a loud pop followed by an awful juddering feeling I notice the juddering (misfire) only happens on WOT around 4500+ rpm. I immediately put in a new set of HT leads and a dizzy cap. The same problem persists :( I changed my spark plugs two months ago ...
