The ticking sound has gone away 2mad. It's just the weird rattle above 3k revs.. The car is going into a garage on Wednesday for a dyno run to sort the downpipe from catching the wastegate, and I'll ask them to check what could be making this noise!

Lol so just went out for a little drive as i've recently fitted a berk exhaust so lots of pointless trips atm, and i was getting a bit fed up with it always ticking at me at the traffic lights. So got to the dually, hit 3rd, drove to about 4.5k revs and nailed it to the red line and hit 100 and slow...

Could be the intercooler rattling I'll go and see if it wiggles about. I've heard it being a common problem, but only on the greddy ones? Never heard of the stock intercoolers having this problem.

I thought it might have been a cracked manifold but was told this was only on the rev 1s?

Can anyone diagnose what it could be if the engine is ticking when warm? I drove 300 miles at the weekend which I think has caused it somehow, as it's only started ticking louder since then. The last time I did an oil change was 1500 miles ago, but I'm going to do another one anyway just to rule out...

It's being taken to a place who've dealt with this before, so I'll update on here what they do so anyone in future knows what to do.

Fitted a japspeed downpipe to my rev 2 tubby which raised the boost to 15psi due to the wastegate not being able to open properly, and now with the addition of a Berk the pressure has risen to 17/18psi because I think the wastegate can no longer take the pressure of the airflow now.
