Re: Mikey's MK2 Racecar

Hahaha, I just spotted the V-spec decal  I really like this car. I want to get hold of a bonnet to do the vent thing and do a rad remount in mine at some point. Brilliant, someone finally noticed it :). It was spare from my Skyline which was actually a V-Spec. Thanks :thumleft: I'll keep an ey...

Re: Mikey's MK2 Racecar

Maybe it's time for an update on this :)

I've done tons of stuff mostly related to sorting out the air ducting in the front bumper, flat floor and splitter.

Pics to follow.

Re: Rev3 turbo to a skyline gtr?

I went from a 600hp R34 GTR to my MR2, and to be honest I have more fun in the MR2.

Plus the RB26 engine can be very unreliable, the lable "Engine made of chocolate" is commonly used :)

Do it Sal, your car is fine as is. Just give it hell :)
I'm toying with the idea of doing Cadwell or Oulton on the 5th July, just trying to persuade Ash to come along.

Re: Snetterton Track Evening - 14th June

Wow, you just couldn't gain any ground on that Caterfield. What was in it/what sort was it? It's cool when you find someone at a similar pace to compare lines with and try keeping up with. It wasn't my fastest lap, I think it was an R600 Caterham which is quick and if it had a decent driver behind ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Do i need an aftermarket intake manifold?

I like shinny bits :)

Yes flaps are still functional, I get a power dip if I don't use them. I'm not sure what the effect is when you upgrade the manifold, I expect the air flow is so different that you are better of ditching the flaps.
And I do like removing stuff :)

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Do i need an aftermarket intake manifold?

I'm running something near those figures on a rev2 engine with forged bottom end and a hybrid CT20 turbo with the standard manifold. I am putting a little extra fuel into cyl 2 and 3 as they were prone to early det, so they were leaning out. But I am eventually going to get a better inlet manifold a...

Usually around £300 -£350 for the day, Jake is a awesome instructor highly recommend him. He is currently racing in the BTCC, and not doing to badly as a new comer. Generally speaking the guys in the know will say that if you want to go faster then your much better off spending money on coaching tha...

Re: Mikey's MK2 Racecar

Good to hear your back up and running :thumleft: Loving the stands and the dash. All the right info and like the shift lights, rev tracker, all very smart looking. A better screen would be the only thing but it is a prototype so guessing that will change. Would this be pnp for aftermarket ecus or t...

Re: Evans waterless coolant

I've been toying with the idea also, you could potentially do away with the expansion bottle as well.
Way less stress on the whole coolant system due to reduced pressure.

The only thing that stops me is the risk of geting a coolant leak and throwing £££ literally down the drain.

Re: Mikey's MK2 Racecar

After my last trackday I had some issue I needed to rectify, an alternator failure and another problem which involved rebuilding my engine :( In the end I got away with a hone and new rings. I'm currently running the engine in and all is very well now. It turns out that overfilling the engine oil is...
