Re: Help Valuing a Rev 1 Turbo
Thanks for all the replies guys. With Christmas looming, I've not had time to follow up the car but... looking at that description and pic, I'd start somewhere around "I'll remove that scrapper from your drive and give you £100" and wouldn't really budge from there... save yourself the has...

Re: Kiddo's '91 GT T-Bar
This brings things up to the present, well, the last few weeks anyway... I want to go on a few track days next year so I've decided to concentrate on the brakes and suspension. The plan: upgrade brakes to turbo/rev2+ spec, braided lines and brake stopper. Rebuild suspension with new inserts, new top...

Re: Help Valuing a Rev 1 Turbo
Well, yes and no... The car must have been standing for around 18 months, judging by the last MOTs mileage and the current mileage being not a lot more. On the plus side, mileage on the clocks was 81k km, but I don't know whether it's been converted. From the chassis number, it's a rev 2 and looks l...

Re: Kiddo's '91 GT T-Bar
The interior was starting to come together, and for a late 80's/90's car, I think it'd aged pretty well. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the door cards that I had - they might have been out of a UKDM car with leather interior, I'm not sure, but they were the fake black leather look and were jus...

Re: Kiddo's '91 GT T-Bar
Next up was the interior. The seats were pretty tired and worn but dead comfy, so I bought a leather repair kit off eBay for about £20 and set about giving them a budget refurb... Quick sanding to get the bolster perfectly flat http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f398/Eseyear/image_27.jpeg Trimmed thi...

Re: Kiddo's '91 GT T-Bar
Haha yeah tell me about it - I did all the work on my R33 before I was a shift worker, now I have to book some sneaky holiday and not tell the Mrs if I want to get anything done!

Re: Kiddo's '91 GT T-Bar
Pete happened to be breaking a G-Limited that ended up being a wealth of spare parts - that's where the X-brace came from. I'd stripped the sub, amp, front speakers and cables out for some weight saving and managed to get the little storage box cover behind the passenger seat to replace the hole fro...

Re: Kiddo's '91 GT T-Bar
Here's the original add for some more pics... http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=184877 Pete took me out for a spin and I was really impressed with the handling, I basically wanted it from the first corner! It was perfect for a summer-project car that I could use and enjoy and from the mom...

Kiddo's '91 GT T-Bar
Not sure why I've left it this long to start a project thread, but better late than never..! Basically, after selling my 400bhp R33 Skyline, I had a car-shaped hole I needed to fill. With only a short journey to work and a lot of twisty roads where I live, I was after something small, lightweight an...

Re: Help Valuing a Rev 1 Turbo
Thanks for all the replies guys :thumleft: I'm glad a lot of you were in the same ball park that I had in mind after looking in the for sale section. I don't really want to be spending more than £1200 at this time of year for something that needs work, so I had a starting figure of about £1k in mind...

Re: Help Valuing a Rev 1 Turbo
I went through the mr2s for sale section and am amazed how cheap some turbos have sold for needing a little work or with no MOT... I suppose it's that unknown factor of how much it could cost to get it on the road. Well, I'll have a better idea at the weekend...I'm not in any rush for one so I'll st...

Re: Insuring an MR2 with electronic boost controller
I have been going between Sky and Adrian Flux for the last 10 years I think. I declare all mods and these two always come in the almost cheapest for me. I probably try 6 companies a year after reading the threads to see who has lowest premium but to be honest none of them that may be slightly cheap...

Re: Help Valuing a Rev 1 Turbo
Thanks for the responses :thumleft: Baring in mind this has no MOT and hasn't been on the road for a while... I suppose until I've seen it in the flesh and have an idea how it runs and drives, I won't know if I'm looking at spares or repair money or well-looked-after minter teritory... :-k Roll on t...

Help Valuing a Rev 1 Turbo
Hi all, Appreciate this not a lot to go by, but I'm after a rough price guide for a rev 1 turbo. Basically, I got talking to someone at the weekend who happened to have a rev 1 turbo sitting on his drive. He's driven it about to keep it unseized but it's not been on the road for a while. Mileage is ...

Kind of true, the US NA has the code SW21, turbo has SW22.
