Re: Mambatek actuator with Greddy.

Just a tip for anyone doing same job. The actuator arm (the adjustable part with the eye) jams against the turbo housing as it operates on the wastegate lever. The shoulder on the eye needs to be filed down slightly and a washer placed underneath the stud on the wastegate lever. This raises the arm ...

Re: Mambatek actuator with Greddy.

There's a guy on Youtube who does it "in car". On looking at it from underneath I've spotted a slight oil weep from the turbo area so decided to pull it all out. I rebuilt it with engine out 18 months ago so the bolts shouldn't be too bad.
Thanks for all the advice. :thumleft:

Re: Mambatek actuator with Greddy.

Many thanks. Always worth checking in. Hardest part looks like getting access to the wastegate level to remove the stock unit. A few hours with the spanners for something that should take minutes.

Mambatek actuator with Greddy.

Currently replacing stock actuator with Mambatek unit. Stock actuator has 2 ports and Mambatek only 1. MR2 MkII, Rev II. Stock actuator has right hand port linked to manifold vac line and left hand port into Turbo vac port. Greedy is spliced in with a T-piece. Support from Mambatek is hopeless and n...

Boost display not working - MkII Rev II

Hi all, finally got my MR2 back on the road after 3 years rebuild. The display on the guage had always only ever shown -1.0 but I was expecting it to move once I had the car back on the road and was giving it some beans. When the car fires up it moves then settles at -1.0 and never budges however I ...

Re: Stutters above 3K rpm.

Update - never assume that the previous owner knew what he was doing. Matched the Fuel pressure regulator plumbing to pics taken during strip down. Replicated this for the new FPR but was perplexed that pressure gauge was not showing anything despite car running. The previous owner had also rewired ...

Re: Stutters above 3K rpm.

Many thanks. New coil on order. The leads, cap and rotor arm are all new as part of the rebuild. The distributor was cleaned and checked during the rebuild. The current coil is the original and I'm sure tested OK but who knows what happens when it warms up and is under stress. Seen similar on other ...

Re: Stutters above 3K rpm.

Many thanks for the suggestions. I should have said I went for the AFM - checked the resistance across the terminals and they were all in spec.
Not noticed any engine lights, but i'll check the knock sensor and the coil.

Stutters above 3K rpm.

After 2 years of rebuilding I've finally got her back on the road and she runs lovely until I put my foot down. Once she climbs above 3000 rpm it's as though the fuel is cut and the car stutters. I've not really pushed it hard to see what it will do if I keep the throttle to the floor. During the re...

Thanks. Guess I'd better replace it with a new one before any enthusiastic driving.
Bet it will be a dealer part.

Prothane wheel alignment settings.

My MR2 MkII RevII build project is just about complete and MOT and 4 wheel alignment booked for this Friday. The chap in the garage has asked what settings I want for the polybush steering alignment. Front & rear where replaced with Prothane bushes. I've had a quick google and search on here but...

Half a donut - what might it be?

While test driving the MkII RevII this morning I felt something fall onto my leg into the drivers footwell. On checking to make sure it wasn't a snake or spider I noticed it was a pinkish piece of softish rubber material. Once I'd stopped I could see 2 other pieces and they had come from somewhere a...

Door check roll pin

I've managed to loose the roll pin from the black plastic strap that checks the drivers door.
Any ideas where I can buy one before I go nuclear and ring the local Toyota dealer.
thanks

Re: £118 Distributor Cap??

A mechanic mate of mine always reckons that the key thing is to decide on how easy it is to replace the part if it goes wrong again. If it's an absolute b1tch, e.g. clutch slave cylinder then go with the OEM. If its a simple 15 min job then take a punt with the copy. You should also take a view of t...

It's a Mk II, Rev II. 3 SGTE Jap import. It's actually in the paint shop now and i'm about to go away on business for a while. I'll try to call in when i return later next week and update the forum on progress. Posting pictures is beyond my IT skills. If you imagine where the rear quarter panel open...

Rear quarter panel rusting.

Just dropped my MR2 into the paint shop yesterday. While looking over the car and talking through the job the paint chap (a good & trusted mate) commented on small paint bubbles & corrosion above the rear quarter glass passenger side. All strangely in a line - obvious when he pointed it out....

Re: £118 Distributor Cap??

Always bought mine from MR2 Ben (until I came across TCB) and never had any problems. The only thing I find with Europarts is that their prices can be steep. If you wait until they send you an email with a discount code then the price becomes more sensible. They are handy, but you don't always get t...

Re: Clutch bleeding tips.

Hi mate, not quite sure what's happening with your system. If you read my post and repeat each step it will work. You do need a vac bleeder so that this is pulling the fluid through for you while the pedal is down. The pedal needs to be down otherwise you will be pulling against a blank end. Do all ...
