Re: Goodridge clutch line adapter fitting issue and bleeding problem general

Hi mate - just had exactly the same issue last month. The blue union piece needs to be tightened almost to the point at which you think it will strip. You can then get the right seal when you tighten up the hose onto the blue adaptor. Drove me mad as each time I thought I had it I'd just get the clu...

Re: Painting door trim strips.

Many thanks. I'll pass this on.
It's certainly a darker red than the main red.
Forgot about the black strips (which is does have) so thanks for that.

Painting door trim strips.

I'm just about to have my MkII, RevII resprayed. The guy who is doing the work has asked about the finish on the trims as he thinks there is a metallic fleck in them. He's OK with the body and this will be a 2 pack red & lacquer to take it to the original red. Does anyone know if there is a colo...

Re: Hoses to fit XS Power I/C to MkII RevII - where to buy?

Many thanks. Will give Lee a call. I need the car to be running by the weekend so that It can go to the paint shop. For now i'll put the original I/C back in then punt the I/C project into the winter when she's laid up again. I took the engine out in Feb and set myself a deadline by booking a slot i...

Hoses to fit XS Power I/C to MkII RevII - where to buy?

Hi all, I've been given an XS Power I/C but the hoses don't fit my Rev II, MkII.
I'm sure they're off a Rev III so if anyone's in the market drop me a PM.

Does anyone have the pipes/hoses to connect it up for my MkII, or any ideas where to buy them from.
Thanks

Replacement drivers door.

I'm about to replace the door (old one rusted through at the bottom). I have the skin only and need to transfer over all the fittings onto the new door. I can see it could be a fiddly job. I plan to put the new door on first then transfer all the bits across. Anyone done this before? Is there anythi...

Re: Clutch bleeding tips.

Hi, always tricky to be 100% clear so thanks for the question.

Push the fork against the rod so that the rod is pushed back into the slave cylinder.

Clutch bleeding tips.

Just had to replace the slave cylinder and had the tough job of working out the best way to do this. For some reason couldn't find any definitive posts on the forum. The problem is that the slave cylinder sits above the bleed nipple. I was also replacing the hose with a Goodridge so there was plenty...

Tie rod end bolts - replace with nylocs?

The locking bolts on the tie rods ends (plus the others on the suspension arms and strut rods) got mashed up during removal to fit poly bushes.
I'm thinking I can replace them with nylocs - any reason why not?

Black T-bar, Cullumpton Tesco garage last night.

Pulled up at the garage for fuel just as I was driving off last night at 1920hrs (ish).
Smart looking and certainly well cared for.

Re: XS Power Intercooler - worth it or not?

My thoughts exactly. When Toyota designed the MR2 there will have been compromises made for all the obvious reasons, however, the car in stock form is more than enough to excite as a Sunday run-about. I get all the bits about replacing items like the suspension bushes and other wear & tear seals...

Re: XS Power Intercooler - worth it or not?

Many thanks. Looks like a vote for the XS I/C. Thanks for the offer but the one I'm being offered is a good unit off a mate for next to nothing as he owes me. I'd been told they were just a heat soak and didn't really add anything to the equation. Couldn't quite see it myself but then there's always...

XS Power Intercooler - worth it or not?

I've been offered an XS Power I/C with all fittings (except fan) for a very good price and was thinking about adding it into my rebuild project. The engine is out of the car at the moment so it would be quite straight forward to stick it in. I already have a set of red Samcos to fit the water and st...

Re: Has anyone used TCB parts? Your experience?

It's not all pasties, clotted cream and sunny beaches. We get the worst of the weather first - chucked it down all weekend. Being so close to the sea it just never gets very hot (low 20s is a good day) but I only had to scrape my car twice this winter. Summers can be a pain with tourists driving all...

Re: Has anyone used TCB parts? Your experience?

Been using Trevor & Paul for my rebuild of a Mk II, Rev II 3SGTE. Couldn't believe my luck that they are just down the road from me. Called in recently - an amazing place for Toyota parts and a great team who will help with parts and good advice. The advice is from practical experience rather th...

Re: Dist end cam cap bolts.

Cheers. Tight - but came out without having to undo the bolts. Happy days. Dizzy polished up nicely and new seal fitted. Plenty of assembly oil and slid back in nicely. Dremels are very useful for cutting and creating slots in stuck bolts - used that trick many times. :D :D

Re: Dist end cam cap bolts.

My manifold came off OK. That was after a few days of soaking with Ease-it and tapping with a hammer. All the nuts came off fine (first time ever). Only had 2 stuck/stripped ones so far on this rebuild - the bolt for the stay on the turbo and the bolt on the coolant manifold. Managed to recover both...

Re: Dist end cam cap bolts.

Spot on with the torque but mild steel bolts into alloy, time & corrosion are never a good combo. I see it a lot when I'm renovating motorbikes.
Hopefully the dizzy does pull out. The main bolts are loose but it didn't seem to want to come out.
