Re: help please with problem refitting alternator

Where the bottom bolt goes through there is a movable bush type thing which probably needs a tap with a hammer to make it fit. When doing it back up it moves to take up the clearance to the bracket.

Re: Misfire / bad shaking - Diagnosis help

Have you checked the fault codes?
I had similar symptoms in a corolla gt many years back.
Turned out to be faulty throttle position sensor.

Bigg Red Calipers

These guys have sorted me out a couple of times in recent weeks. 1984 Porsche 944 caliper... not available from the usual suppliers unless you wanna spend £400 at dealer. New piston, seals and painted up and delivered back within 4 days £80 odd quid. 1967 Triumph Herald type 12 calipers (not availab...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] pagid handbrake cables

I've fitted Pagid a few times. They are ok but never fit as well as Toyota ones however they aren't £80 odd quid a side from Pagid. Usual problem is you have to file down the ends of the strands of cable where they protrude too far where it connects to the front cable section. No big deal I know but...

Re: Car won't start with standard ecu

As my first post... battery... immobiliser?... trace the power to the ignition switch then to the relay then starter..
Getting it cranking is the first job.
You can even take a power feed to the starer exciter wire to see if starter will even crank... could be that simple.. duff starter.

I'd be getting it tested on another gas machine to be sure... I've never seen results like that.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Underbody drain hole rust

Those bungs used to be fitted at pdi, they came in the glove box. The holes are for strapping down while on the car transporter.
Sorry I don't have the part number.

Re: broken key in ignition

I've had some luck with using 2 fine picks to extract broken keys from barrels before. Also tried a tiny amount of super glue on the broken end of the key, insert into barrel, let it go off then pull key out complete.
This would be last resort as superglue in a barrel is not ideal!

Good luck!

Re: getting a MK3

How can removing pre cats from exhaust stop oil consumption...? It can't. Pre cats break up due to prolonged running with a misfire or huge amounts of oil passing the rings and being burned. Shame they are such a pita to top up with oil without a funnel or removing the rear brace. Keep topping it up...

Re: Resetting pistons to restore handbrake (after brake pad change)

Firstly check the handbrake levers on the calipers are back on their stops, if not the handbrake will be crap. I'd be inclined to loosen off the handbrake cable till its slack, undo bottom 12mm bolt, swing caliper up and turn the piston all the way back in. Check that the sliders are nice and free o...

Hi Ash welcome,
First advise for prepping a track day mr2... put it on a diet.. Strip out all the not required bits, get some decent shocks and springs, good grippy tyres and have some fun. :thumleft:

Re: [Mk2] [NA] mr2 slipping out of 5th gear-solution advice please

Check all the cable adjustment is correct. It could be worn out 5th gear selector. The selector can be replaced without removing the gearbox. just drop down far enough to remove the end cover then you can inspect the selector for wear and replace if needed.

Re: Hand brake cables? All the same?

With the Pagid cables you will probably need a file to file off the excess strands of cable where they attach at the front end. Just a thought as seen it plenty with those cables. :thumleft: Oh and make sure the handbrake levers on the calipers are back on the stops. It tells you where you mount the...

Book time for belt change on Autodata is 3.2 hrs. Strangely for wa...

Are you sure it's a sports cat? My old 97 NA MR2 ran lower than that with a decat. Yep, customer said he had it fitted last year. New coolant temp sensor will help that reading come down too. I fitted sports cats to a customers 350z recently.. Luckily it passed the mot with the old cats on it prior...
