Re: [Mk2] [NA] Clutch change - parts required
Maybe drive shaft seals, they are usually fine but pita when you need em and ain't got them. Why you getting exhaust gaskets? are they already leaking? 3 litres of gearbox oil is more than enough. Naturally get a good quality clutch.

Sounds like the Intergalactic swizzle valve on the extrander beam corrupting the foogiefont anti coptional knarl return wizard to me!!
Or that could just be made up bolloc*s...
Check the codes, will give you a better chance of pinpointing the fault.
As previously said its prob ignition related.

Switch on the back of the drivers door lock would be first thing to look at. I've replaced a few over the years.

Re: Wheel Alignment / Vibrator Issues
Going back 10 years or so ago working at Toyota in Swindon I had a new apprentice assigned to me. You can usually tell within a couple of weeks how they are gonna turn out, this one was a nob. Never put tools back, always hiding in the tea room, talking bull about cars he'd driven etc. One day his b...

Re: Two questions....
Hopefully the captive nuts on the subframe are ok. Mine were knackered due to the previous owner sticking the wrong thread bolt in and pulled out all the threads. Subframe out, drill nuts out, weld new nuts to thick washers then weld into place. Job done.

Re: Garage hours official for an engine change
If its like for like swap the 10 hours should have it cracked. These cars are around 20 years old now so the odd broken bolt etc can be expected, that can add extra time to the bill. If you have to swap over manifolds injectors etc (short engine) then prob a couple of hours more. Possible new clutch...

Re: Alternator super seized, do I need to drop the subframe????
I know that the USDM turbo has a bolt that mounts the bracket to the block which is behind the alt so no chance of removing everything in one go. Whether this applies to UK spec cars i cannot say - just something to take into consideration Pretty sure they are all the same. Its gonna be a pig to do...

Have you opened up and looked inside the control box? Blue box on RHS as you look into the frunk. I had one before that winked one light up and down while driving along, turned out to be control box. Damp/water ingress should be easy to spot inside it.

Re: Gearbox filler washers
The Swindon Toyota dealership seems very pricey. I've ordered some gaskets for my exhaust. £7 for one crush gasket. Hate to think how much the turbo gaskets gonna be! Yep Fish Brothers Toyota in Swindon, I worked for them for over 10 years but they do seem more expensive than other dealers. Depends...

Re: Gearbox filler washers
I've been re using them for years without any issue. Even in Toyota main dealer they were never carried in the parts dept or issued with the service parts. Each to their own. Of course if you have new ones then fit em but otherwise don't bother. Re fill the box, take it for a spin, re check the leve...

Are they missing? Generally you can re use them without any issue, not as such a crush washer like the nasty copper ones but a solid ally washer.

Ignition system is first I'd look at if misfire. Most likely coil has cracked or dizzy cap, HT leads, plugs... Is there any codes?
