JapFest Finale Santa Pod 2014
This will be my first Jap show and wondered who else was going? I'll be running the strip in my 99 Rev5 Black NA on Saturday and will be up against some other mixed manufacturers cars in a bit of a competition. What else is everyone else doing in preparation? I'm currently changing my gearbox oil in...

Charity Rolling Road day in Crawley tomorrow!
Hi guys, we're having a charity rolling road day tomorrow in Crawley and it's being hosted FOC by Austec Racing. I'll be there with my MR2 and all that's being asked is for a £30 donation and you get to have a go on the Dyno with your own car... Bit of a bargain! Would be lovely to see some other MR...

Re: Bit more power from a Rev5 N/A?? Advice needed, its for charity!
Well I've got a rolling road day tomorrow as part of our Lemons365.co.uk driving challenge. I've blanked off the EGR but the rest of the system is fitted, so I guess it just won't do anything now. I've also fitted a de-cat pipe and carried out a full service, oil, filter, plugs, dizzy cap and rotor ...

1999 Revision 5 N/A Original Price?
Hi guys I'm needing to find out what the original price of my car is. Its a 1999 V reg, UK model Revision 5 with T-Tops, Normally Aspirated. Would any of you have the actual OTR (on the road) factory list price of this model at that time, not overly bothered about optional extra costs just now altho...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Rev5 Gearbox rebuild.
Your clutch needs adjusting. Why is it biting with the pedal buried in the carpet fibres? Indeed. It's been on my mind hence finding the info about the adjustment at the pedal...! Wouldn't it be perfect of that and some properly decent gearbox oil sorted the problem! I'm rarely that lucky! What oil...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Rev5 Gearbox rebuild.
Ok, so a little back to basics on this... The engine is completely standard except for induction kit and stainless exhaust. Gear shift is standard, no quick shift fitted as far as I'm aware. Gears shift perfectly fine at normal speeds. Not a crunch or a grind in sight, very smooth.... Clutch disenga...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Rev5 Gearbox rebuild.
Hi Peter, sorry I didn't realise you were sbits, been having a nose around your site! :) So let's say worst case it's the syncro's. How much is a set likely to be and where would you get them from? Are they main dealer only order or are there better alternatives out there on the market? I've searche...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Rev5 Gearbox rebuild.
Cheers for that. Do you have links to them as I've no idea who they are on here as far as their forum names go so searching for the threads will be a complete nightmare :). Thanks Just come across this info too.... Anyone tried it with success? SYNCRO's CRUNCHING? Thanks for MR2OC, USA. For putting ...

[Mk2] [NA] Rev5 Gearbox rebuild.
Hi guys My MR2 is pretty amazing already and driving really sweet, apart from the gearbox! Hard accelerating is producing some nasty graunching between gears and I'd like to sort it out, especially with the next 12 months that are planned in for it, a lot of charity based fun. I've not yet been offi...

Re: Bit more power from a Rev5 N/A?? Advice needed, its for charity!
Ok, so after some research it seems one of the only times an EGR is universally closed is at idle, due to the reduction of combustible gasses causing issues with idle.

Makes sense.
.

Trying to find more MR2 related info though.
Will feed back when I've more info

Re: Bit more power from a Rev5 N/A?? Advice needed, its for charity!
Yes - but your performance at idle is pretty poor anyway and the gases should not be recirculating with the throttle open. :D indeed it is, I'll not be setting any lap records at Le Mans with her sat on idle that's for sure. Checking its operation and function is, I would have thought, a fairly sen...

Re: Bit more power from a Rev5 N/A?? Advice needed, its for charity!
Thanks for all the replies guys.

I may well look into the EGR thing a little more to see what exactly it's effect on performance is.

Recycled exhaust gasses are most defiantly not good for performance and the valves are known to seize and loose a lot of low down power.
Not good!

Re: Bit more power from a Rev5 N/A?? Advice needed, its for charity!
Thanks guys To be fair, modifying the car too much will kind of detract away from the purpose of the project. I'll maybe loose some weight for the timed stuff, apart from that a good set of pads and a thorough check over and service of all wear and tear items. Cam belt was 2 years ago with a water p...

Bit more power from a Rev5 N/A?? Advice needed, its for charity!
Hi guys. Fishing for information here i guess.... I bought a Rev5 as I wanted a very late car, with all the development benefits that normally follow naturally along the way. That and less rust! Very happy with the car, however it seems I have signed myself to a bit of a 12 month charity driving cha...

Re: MK2 Rev5 New Owner
Actually, come to think of it I had an ST202 Celica GT a few years ago, maybe 3 or 4 years... Don't recall the bonnet weight and as much as I'd desired one for a good while, I was surprised at how small it was. I couldn't sit up in it, my head was always bent to the side. I didn't have it long, was ...

Re: MK2 Rev5 New Owner
Day 1 over and done with. Bristol to Cardiff, then to work, then back home to bed. It's surprised me, quite how I manage to fit in there and be comfy. Biggest surprise so far? The front trunk lid is stupendously heavy. Not felt anything quite like it before on any car I've ever owned! How come it's ...

Re: MK2 Rev5 New Owner
No worries about that.... Definitely not my thing, think they look awful! Carbon blade on a black car is quite discrete though. Loving the wheels, think they look just right, want to polish all the bits you can't see now though which is super geeky, not done that since I was in my early 20's and tha...

Re: MK2 Rev5 New Owner
Yup, that's the one \:D/ Need to get my polishing cloths out, but it's already nice and shiny! Only thing I fancy is a carbon wing, but I'd like to keep the standard uprights. For now I'll just drive it! I love the wheels. Total mid life crisis, I'm 38 and have an induction kit, sports exhaust and f...
