It was Redline shock proof oil (pretty sure it was the heavy version).

Re: Why are MR2 Turbos still undervalued?

It was a couple of weeks ago now but someone lists an old Rev 2 turbo with questionable history, rust and a massive list of problems. Within hours two people with 0 feedback bid on the car and bring the price upto around 7k, the listing disappeared not long after. Maybe I'm being a bit paranoid or ...

Re: 3rd gear crunch (

As mentioned, check that the linkages etc are all aligned and operating as they should be first, to rule them out. You can try a gearbox oil change, as well as adding an extra additive but ultimately that's only going to by you some time before it gets worse. My last MR2 had a crunch down shifting f...

Can't really go out much at the moment due to COVID so just been at home editing a few photos from the last time I did some... Cannot wait for the better weather and to get the T-tops removed and enjoy a sunny drive in lovely weather. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50922180163_3477d7e8a3_k.jpg

Got a smaller front plate that is the exact size of the import plate holder. Looks much smarter now. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50800465696_66aa5f8bae_k.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50800581962_5f1f70e7f9_k.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50800583737_ff09b56f69_k.jpg

Re: A few more bits needed .... Anybody help?

You might have better luck finding an mr2 being broken on eBay and contacting the seller.

Or try Paul @ TCB Parts as he has a lot of used parts in stock. Failing that, Mr MR2 on eBay.

Re: Misfire on Idle Rev 5 N/A

How old are the plugs? Has it been stood for a while? Any water build up around the plugs? If in doubt, I would just start with the basics; get some decent new plugs, leads and a dizzy etc. Even if it doesn't need it all, it future proof's these items as well as ruling them out if it's something els...

Re: Black Rev5

Reassuring. My timing assembly was renewed five years ago but has only done around 15000 miles. Think I'll leave it a while longer. Also I keep thinking of selling mine due to having too many cars in the family but every time I drive it I appreciate how well these cars are put together and I know w...

Re: Black Rev5

Replaced the timing belt today... 21 years and 119k on the original belt, I wouldn't normally leave it as long as that but the 1st owner who I bought it from said it was due a change when I bought it off him, and as I never put much mileage on it and the fact that it's non-interference I never got r...

Re: Driftworks Coilovers - HSD

I had the HSD's on my last MR2, and really didn't rate them. Far too bouncy no matter what setting I used, even when raised up they weren't nice. However, they do different spring ratings so just make sure you get the recommended ones for road use, they also refused to repair one when it started lea...

KK-M5 wrote:Yes, exactly that. If I set the bite point about half way when the engine's hot, then when it cools all the way down, the bite point is literally a couple millimetres off the floor.

Can you bleed the clutch line on MR2's? It could be fluid related thats changing due to temperature.

What about if you set the bite point once it's hot? Is it then too low when it's cold?

Re: Getting her back on the road

100% your going to be better off taking it to a trusted specialist with good reviews.

Toyota themselves probably don't even have anyone who's worked on these cars, so won't know the tips and tricks and treating them how they should be treated.

Re: Black Rev5

Ahhh, I did wonder! I assume it's a turbo engine yeah? Just curious, Forget how nice the rev5s look =P~ I did originally plan to fit a turbo engine, but I'm going to get a new cambelt kit and water pump and just keep it reliable until later, and then consider an engine swap of some description. But...
