How would I know if the ECU is throwing up code 42? Do I need a diagnostic tool?

Yeah the tachometer, fuel and temp all work as they should, is this a common fault with mr2's? ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Do you know how to fix it by any chance?

Re: will this BOV fit the MR2 turbo
I thought that the engine would be running rich, leaving more carbon deposits on the tip of the spark plug.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Also, could you not just stick a rev3 head on it? Or are they a different fitment to a rev 1/2?

Re: will this BOV fit the MR2 turbo
how long would the plugs last if it was running a BOV? and just found an add for the OEM recirc Bov for
£35, might just buy that and sort the ecu out over time so that i can eventually run a Bov.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Re: will this BOV fit the MR2 turbo
i have plans for the future to go for big power.
so the costs dont particularly matter unless its stupid money.
money spent now is less money spent in the future i guess!

Re: will this BOV fit the MR2 turbo
am i right in thinking i could scrap the AFM all together, getting a plug n play ecu and just taking a MAP
sensor off a rev 3? would that work? just trying to think of other ways to get round the issue.

is there no way to take the air flow meter off so that a BOV can be used? or would that require changing to a rev 3 ecu and what not?
