Re: [FINALIZED] 1996 MK2 REV3 N/A - Astral Black

This is still for sale. I'm starting to run out of space to keep 2 cars. It's also up on Ebay and autotrader but i'd like to keep it in this community, throw some offers at me and i'm sure a deal can be made.

1996 MK2 REV3 N/A - Astral Black

After 4 years of ownership, I regret that I need to sell my MR2. It has been perfect for every minute i've owned it. It's been very well looked after. 162k miles Cambelt and waterpump replaced in 2015 Clutch replaced around 100k Full service history, lots of stamps in the book - I also have a radio ...

[Mk2] [Generic] Trouble pairing a new remote

I have a 1995 NA, which I believe to be a Rev 3. The locking remotes that came with the car are round with 3 buttons, the middle one does nothing. The rubber holding the remote to the keyring is very worn and keeps breaking so I bought a new square remote off ebay. Following this guide, (http://www....

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Sticky accelerator

Screw in the idle screw on the throttle body enough to raise the throttle a little bit off the bottom.

I had this problem with mine when I first got it. I took the throttle body off and found that with the throttle fully closed, the butterfly wedged against the outer casing part.

Re: Top dashboard removal

Just sorted it. The dash didn't need removing, the cable was just small enough to be forced behind the gap between the door frame trim and the dash. The A pillar is easy enough to remove, it's just on clips. For the headlining I removed the interior light and the sun visor, and used a wire coat hang...

Re: Top dashboard removal

are you talking about the big piece that sits below the windscreen and spans the full width of the cabin? If so I would like some advice on removing this also - I am about to fit a digital radio aerial that sticks to the windscreen and the cable needs to run down the A pillar trim and behind the da...

Re: Top dashboard removal

Just been out and took some photos, it's this part I need to pull back. I'm not sure the pics actually show it clearly enough, but I need the black cable to run down where the alarm sensor cable goes. Scratch that, I can't even dodge the URL filter by putting in spaces. How many posts do I need to p...

Top dashboard removal

I'm going to try and finally finish the hard wiring of my dash cam. At the minute the cable runs from under the steering wheel, up the right side of the the dashboard to the A pillar. It runs up the A pillar to the windscreen, and the across to the mirror between the headlining and the windscreen. T...

Re: Idle Screw

It's not to adjust the idle speed, it idles fine on 800rpm with the throttle open a little. I need to use that screw to stop the butterfly closing completely as it jams closed. (I know that's the exact same as what you just said, but it's got to be done as the throttle sticks closed if the butterfly...

Re: Idle Screw

Hmm, mine does. It is a screw on the top of the throttle body that pushes the 'metal bit' that the throttle cable attaches to. I don't have a pic but a quick google bring up this: thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/maMU749lZM1PCiPcnWuSSqw.jpg It's the little bit towards the top left that's sticking out...

Idle Screw

When I got my '2 over a month ago there was no idle screw which caused the throttle to jam shut and the pedal would stick at the top. This was discovered to be the butterfly valve wedging itself against the throttle body because there was no screw to hold it open a little. I've tried all sorts of sc...

Re: Bought an NA, couple of issues

Look at you idle valve mate, sounds like it dirty, I've seen this on a few honda's, make sure all you vacuum lines are hooked up too. I thought it'd be the ICV, i'm going to do it next week when i've got a bit more time. For the time being i've adjusted the idle screw so it idles at 1250rpm, but it...

Bought an NA, couple of issues

I bought a Rev 3 NA a few weeks ago, treated the rust and finally got it on the road. There a couple of niggles i'd like to sort, and any advice will be appreciated. 1. Uneven idle, when warm the revs fluctuate between 700 and 1300, no misfires or other running issues. I have videod it to help, the ...

Yep, got both parents on there with £850 excess (£500 voluntary + £250 compulsory).

The hunt continues!

Re: Difference between GT and non-GT

James, does the car have a rear spoiler and front fogs? If it does not it is probably a 3SFE engined car which often come up as `Coupe` when you insure them. I had a blue one when I was 20, the insurance is cheaper, and then I sold it and bought an import GT Turbo when I was 23. Yeah, had a rear sp...

Re: Difference between GT and non-GT

I'm age 20, licence for 3 years, and 3 years no claims bonus. No accidents but 3 points for an SP50.

Sadly age is the factor against me, but I was hoping that will be (partially) helped by having 3 NCB

Re: Difference between GT and non-GT

I rang sky yesterday and they wouldn't quote, along with herts, A-plan and flux.

Rang sky back to confirm the model and he said it's a GT N/A on the system, but manually inputed an N/A and it still wouldn't quote :(

Re: Difference between GT and non-GT

Didn't know that tbh! I've just been using registrations to insurance companies. They just read it back as a Toyota MR2 (with some adding GT). These are the manual options that elephant give: (I can't post links yet, just replace the XX with TT) hxxp://thumbsnap.com/VEnPo0Y7 Should it be just (N/A) ...

Difference between GT and non-GT

I'm looking at getting an N/A MR2. Insurance is a major problem, with most companies not quoting. Current cheapest is Elephant at £2500 for a GT and £1900 for a non-GT. What is the difference between the GT models and non-GT? The guide on here suggests that it's the 119 (ish) bhp model in the standa...
