Re: Buying advice
My turbo is better on fuel than the n/a if driven like any other day to day car. 30 mpg plus. If driven quickly on A and B roads at similar speeds to the n/a, the turbo is about the same, low 20's mpg. I think this is because you don't have to rev the turbo as high. In the n/a I would rev to 7200 r...

Re: Buying advice
For that money I would be looking for a decent turbo. 20 year old plus cars have lower insurance as they are treated as classics by some insurance companies. I bought a rev 1 turbo for £750 and it had 8 months tax! £200 / year for insurance. I previously had an n/a and I prefer the power of the turb...

Re: Hose from hell without removing turbo
Thanks for the link, that's what inspired me to do it.
Question is, has anyone followed this guide and how difficult is it to do compared to say changing the cam belt which I helped my son to do on a N/A?

Hose from hell without removing turbo
I've bought a replacement hose from hell and the O rings for the oil cooler.
My plan is to change the HFH without removing the turbo etc.
Can anyone give me any pointers please.

Re: Overheating N/A, methods of diagnosis?
Having similar problems to you, see my post. Pressure test for 30 quid sounds fair, I will look into getting that done myself. MR2s have some mysterious cooling system problems don't they? Most cars are fairly easy to diagnose. We've had three now, one had no problems at all and two have been a pain...

Water loss and overheating
Hi all, I'm new to imoc. I have a rev1 turbo which is in good condition and mechanically good with no issues apart from using a very small amount of water. I went on a track day to Blyton Park which I have done before and suffered some overheating problems. First noticed it when waiting at start lin...
