Re: Mr2 Mk2 Insurance for under 25's

Yeah I think you're right Draven as it was gonna be a second car for me I just thought he would be able to enjoy it too rather than it just sat in Garage. Also at the risk of falling into another stereotype about Bradford I thought it would be good to get his interest into an Mr2 rather the other po...

Re: Mr2 Mk2 Insurance for under 25's

Unfortunately charged I agree with you but unless I'm prepared to give up everything and restart again in an insurance friendly postcode I don't really have any options but to rant about being an honest careful driver in a city full of dishonest ones. I don't understand how your statement helps matt...

Re: Mr2 Mk2 Insurance for under 25's

Haha I was thinking of remortgaging. I understand when you are young its one of those things considering he might get to drive it once if he's lucky and its not like its gonna be a 9-5 car its most likely gonna do no more than 2000/3000 miles a year. Its probably only gonna be used between March and...

Re: Mr2 Mk2 Insurance for under 25's

I've pretty much rang all the usual suspects even taking out the fact I wanna insure my nephew with me it's still ludicrously high for my age, experience , driving history and what really annoys me is they all give me the same spiel about how they take different factors into account when in reality ...

Mr2 Mk2 Insurance for under 25's

I wanted to ask any of you guys have your children insured on the policies with you? I have tried to get a quote for me with my nephew on (18 years old) and have been flat refused by every company I've rang saying they wont insure anyone under 25 on this type of vehicle. Not to mention my cheapest q...

Re: Coming over to the purist MR2 side.

Cheers Ben makes sense what you are saying. If only Pete was a bit nearer to me I could see the car in the flesh. I did mail him regarding a possible deal with an E30 beamer but if its cash then I just wanna hold out to see if I can get one in the spec I am after especially as the sun isn't fully ou...

Re: Coming over to the purist MR2 side.

It is an itch I have to scratch before I get to old to get in and out of one. I am coming round to the idea if the white one you mentioned Ben. At least I know its coming from a genuine enthusiast and hopefully as such will be an honest car. Lets say I did sort rust issues out and waxoyled/dinitrole...

Re: Coming over to the purist MR2 side.

Oooh you guys are almost scaring me maybe I should stick to a MK2. Interestingly I am surprised MK1's haven't increased in value. I mean almost every classic I looked at 10 years ago has gone up in value quite considerably. For example a Celica TA22 could be had for about £2 -£2.5k and now you would...

Re: Coming over to the purist MR2 side.

Well I suppose its the catch 22 situation Lauren.

If they were better protected against rust and more durable than I guess they would be a lot more expensive and out of my reach so maybe not such a bad thing after all.

Re: Coming over to the purist MR2 side.

I am not really after a garage queen I want something that I can enjoy and you know if needs be sort out rust issues later. Obviously if the right example came up that was totally clean and at the right price I don't mind paying a little more. Ben I was just looking at that this morning when I shoul...

Re: Coming over to the purist MR2 side.

Cheers Lauren Rust has been the main reason I have not bought one in the past and stuck to MK2's which are slightly better at not rusting. I was just thinking if its ok for now I coud run it over the summer and if I decide to keep it and its a good one to begin body restoration after. For £850 it lo...

Coming over to the purist MR2 side.

Hey guys its happened I finally am beginning to miss my MR2 MK2. So looking to get back into MR2 ownership albeit a MK1 this time. After the pleasures of having power streering in my MK2 I am looking to go more purist this time with a MK1. Also fulfilling a need/desire for something eighties and the...

Re: Honda S2000 v Toyota MR2 n/a

Oh there is a mod which can be done that brings the vtec in at 3.5k revs. I absolutely live the vtec engine pottering around at low revs and ehen the mood takes you drop it a gear and let it scream to 9000revs.

Re: Honda S2000 v Toyota MR2 n/a

I appreciate the cons that people mention but as per title of the thread don't compare the S2000 to other cars but specifically to the MR2 and the cons are virtually the same. Oh and cvega666 maybe its a good thing not beng able to have a quickie in it as I'd hate to be in the dreaded need for more ...

Re: Honda S2000 v Toyota MR2 n/a

Cheers Magic Beans. I think the S2000 is the one that ticks the most boxes I am after. Why did you mention a Westfield always fancied something of that ilk but I'm not Hardcore enough yet. Or I do like the idea of the Carver bike/car Hybrid. I can't believe my MR2 ownership is to end sooner than I i...

Re: Honda S2000 v Toyota MR2 n/a

Great point Magic Beans thats exactly what happened to me 9 years ago. Ironically I set out to buy a tubby then someone suggested a scooby and then it was if you going for an impreza why not an Evo and then an SL Merc eventually ended up with a 911 (930) which I'd overstretched on and not took into ...
