"Porsche Boxster drivers - bigger knobs than Beemer drivers?"
To answer the question, I can confirm that both Boxter drivers and BMW drivers have tiny knobs.

Re: That's twice.............
a probe flashed its lights at me the other morning ... i think this means that probe owners are more likely to acknowledge each other than mr2 owners I think you can put that down to a mutual understanding and sympathy that they've both bought a complete dog of a car. I've been flashed at by Probes...

Re: Unmarked Police trying to get me done!!!!
When I was still living in Coventry, I was heading into town after a long motorway drive and it took me a couple of minutes to re-adjust my speed (y'know when 30 feels really slow?!). It was early evening and I noticed a big black Volvo behind me, but the light was poor and I couldn't see him proper...

I'm interested too, now you mention it - I've got the import-sized holder on my car but a UK-sized plate, so it bends outwards (forwards) slightly at each end

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Strange knocking noise from front
Droplinks! Do a search on here - it's been covered quite a lot. They wear and then make that exact noise when driving over bumps. Before I discovered this forum, I tried removing all loose items from my boot, frunk and car interior thinking it was something rattling around... ](*,) There are other p...

BLZ - I really like your indicator/sidelight lenses (my 2 is black as well). Are they MOT legal? What bulbs did you get to go with them?

[All] [Generic] Minimum use?
I have recently moved up north to live with the g/f and as a result I'm using my MR2 a lot less than I was before. The change of job means I'm not using it for work, I don't have to drive from Cov to Newcastle to see her, and as a sprinter, I used to easily cover 60 miles a week just to go training,...

Keep seeing this one around - parked on Grey Street the other day, then parked outside Central station too.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Urgent - How do I get the alternator out of the engine bay???
I'm sure there's a way of doing it that doesn't involve taking the exhaust off. I could be wrong - try the knowledge base. Ok, I found it - thread from PW at Woodsport - the guy knows his stuff, though I've never tried this: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=63401&highlight=remove+alt...

[All] [Generic] Newcastle
I've just moved to Newcastle and it's MOT time, but I really don't know the area at all. Can anyone from the area recommend a nice friendly garage, preferably either in the city centre or the Heaton area. Despite all my car's issues, I'm confident it'll MOT no problem, but in case it does need work ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Is my hub bent/warped?
it might also be worth checking the slider pin is free to move. When you lifted the caliper to check the pads, did the caliper rotate freely? could you move it in towards the car and back out again without trouble? Sticky pins is a usual mk1 problem, but perhaps you have at bit of it too! Thanks - ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Is my hub bent/warped?
Brilliant, thanks very much guys. :thumleft: The noise has been going on since I got the car - have never been able to suss it. There is a fair amount of crap built up on the hub, though - I'll get it shifted and see how it goes. The reason I couldn't figure it out is the same reason I'm work...

[Mk2] [Generic] Is my hub bent/warped?
I get a rubbing/thudding noise from the driver's side rear brake, it only occurs at a certain point, and is definitely due to the caliper coming into contact with the disc (if you pull the slider right away from the disc, the noise stops; starts again once you've applied the brake.) The sliders are ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] headlight
u might wanna reach under the head lamp and disconnect the power 2 it, so that u can turn the car off. :-k No need to have the car running anyway :-k Yeah, flick the light stick up one notch - no lights come on - then flash the headlights. The lights stay in position. Handy for washing the things, ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Brake caliper bolt thread - suggestions?
Thanks very much for all the help/advice. I've gone for a botch job for now - my brother fitted a helicoil at his work and is confident it is secure. This will do as a short-term solution until I can afford a whole new caliper. I'm going to inspect the job tonight though both he and his boss have gi...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] sticking throttle
I had a similar problem, except mine was sticking down. Had a couple of scary moments. Turned out to be the car mat - had inched forward and was occasionally trapping it while 'down'. Is yours getting in the way while it's 'up'?

[Mk2] [Generic] Brake caliper bolt thread - suggestions?
I could have cried yesterday. Spent hours in the pouring rain with a stinking hangover changing my brake discs and pads. When I came to reattach the caliper on the passenger side rear, the topmost of the two bolts just kept on turning - it was a PITA to remove in the first place and I realised it ha...

Identical to me... except I don't think my Sparcos are up to much - I certainly doubt they're lightweight.
