Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Cam cover quicky

Quite possibly a stupid question, but are the cam cover and the rocker cover the same thing? 8-[ My rocker cover gasket is leaking resulting in oil entering the no.1 spark plug. I've got a replacement gasket but I'm unsure about how difficult it will be to change. Yes, cam cover and rocker cover ar...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Reconditioned Engine- can anyone help

Does anyone know of a good place to start looking?? We have rebuilt 3SGE engines (and 4AGE) sat on the shelf as spares / upgrades for MR2 Championship competitors. We only have revision 3+ engines available though, and yours will be a revision 1. We can rebuild your existing engine, or upgrade your...

I ordered one myself only yesterday from flashmetal.com. Do a search for 'bolt' and Robert's your father's brother.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] One of the worst days of my life....[now with pics]

Something very similar to this happened to me back in september, i was waiting to pull out on a large open T junction, someone coming from the left went to pull in the road i was coming out, but he failed to see the bmw coming from my right, the bmw swerved and smashed into the side of me, he was d...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] MOT ruling on cars with stripped interiors????

I Had a MK2 escort with no interior only 2 Bucket seats and a cage, That went through no probs Likewise, my mini only had 2 buckets & harnesses and a 24 point cage. They never said a word. Oh the missing back seats thing is rubbish. Shouldn't have even been an advisory as only components presen...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Is the mk2 aggressive?

Just to echo the point about courtesy, I've been driving the other half's Skoda Fabia around while the Two is out of action and I can't believe the number of people that cut me up, pull out in front of me, etc. It's like they see a Skoda, assume it's not going to be moving fast, and fancy their chan...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Sometimes revs won't drop below 3000rpm

Mine started revving uncontrollably at times. Took me a while to realise my floor mat was slipping forwards and making the accellerator stick

If your throttle isn't sticking, maybe try this?

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Do I really need a whole new engine?

are you the guy who emailed me on ebay, about the engine? the guy selling them is just a middle man, and none of what's posted on the listing gets done, they just fix whatever problem the engine had to get it running and that's it, probably better to talk to rogue or woodsport as i think they sell ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Do I really need a whole new engine?

Theres a rev 5 engine near me going for £200 he still might have it? Interesting - do you have any details? Is it possible to drop a rev 5 engine into a rev 2? There also seem to be more rev 3 engines around at the moment and they obviously tend to have lower mileage on them - is it posisble to put...

It wasn't Chris - and I never realised he was in Newcastle until now ](*,)

I was going to pop to Woodsport with it but I doubt I can even get it that far. The gtschris website seems to be down at the moment so I'll drop him a line.

[Mk2] [NA] Do I really need a whole new engine?

I'd put my car into a garage to check out a starting problem and they think it needs an entire new engine! They say it needs new piston rings and/or new valve stem seals and that the crankshaft is rattling - they say all these things combined mean it's not worth fixing each thing. They are probably ...

[Mk2] [NA] Starting problems: at wit's end

I realise there are tonnes of topics like this; I have searched and read plenty but think my circumstances warrant a new thread. Until the clocks go forward, it's hard to find much time to tinker with the 2, so the past four/five weekends have gone a little like this: Changed dizzy cap, rotor arm, a...

Re: does the engine need to be running to check oil

does the engine need to be running to check oil Ideally it should be turned off for at least 10 minutes to allow the oil to settle before checking. HTH. If you need to top up, be very patient. I filled mine from near-empty in a hurry recently and overfilled the car slightly - it smoked and ran like...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Problems since Dizzy cap change

Lovely stuff, thanks guys.

I'll have a good poke around this weekend and dry everything off. The Dizzy cap didn't come with a seal so I'll see what I can do to patch it up.

[Mk2] [NA] Problems since Dizzy cap change

I changed my Dizzy cap and rotor arm two weeks ago. For the first week, things were great - the old one was knackered, so the engine was now feeling very smooth and I was generally chuffed. Last Saturday I washed the car, then it was very cold on the Saturday night. It wouldn't start on the Sunday m...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] will 4x 16" rims fit in a mr2?

Just the rims or tyres as well?

Based purely on guess work (ie don't take my word for it), I'd assume a rim (or even two at a stretch) would easily fit in the boot. You may have issues with the tyres as well, though...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] WOMEN DRIVERS!!!

I can see what's happened here, and technically, it wasn't her fault. You were actually nowhere to be seen when she decided to pull out. However, she then had to do the A-B-C rhyme in her head to remember which pedal made the car go forwards, check her make up, stalled once because the handbrake was...

Re: [All] [Generic] What should've the Mk2 designers included?

There is no question that indicators should be on the right: it's all about being able to indicate and change gear at the same time.

Besides, my MKI Escort had them on the right too, and there was NOTHING wrong with that car. End of debate.
