Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo knackered??

There is a bit of play. probs about 1mm side to side as you can see in this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoPKsoXDFM8 I was quite surprised to see hardly any oil in the hot pipe and compressor housing. If anything there was less this time than there was 6 months ago when i last had i...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo knackered??

Blue smoke when accelerating will be the turbo oil seals, not uncommon for rebuilt turbos to fail prematurely, is it still under warranty? About 2 months out of warranty lol. Anyone know what sort of cost a place like turbo technics will charge to refurbish it. I reckon I can remove it myself so it...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo knackered??

Will do tomo when its light and (hopefully) not raining. I have had them off before when i last did some work on it and there were small puddles around the "rubber connecting bits". I didn't think much of it at the time cos it wasn't a massive amount and i was told it is normal for a littl...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo knackered??

So recently I have been noticing my turbo burning quite a bit of oil and a bit of a blue mist in the distance in the rear view mirror after flooring it. It doesn't smoke off boost or at idle (at least not noticeably). My first thoughts are that the oil seals in the turbo are shot? It's a hybrid ct26...

spare xbox live codes?

Long story but I need to create a temporary xbox live account whilst rockstar sort their endless cloud issues out.

So I'm just seeing if anyone has any free 1 month trial codes knocking about that came with an old game they can spare??

PM me a code if you do. cheers

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Blue smoke

will monitor it closely but took it out the other night and didn't notice any smoke... obviously i know that doesn't mean its not burning any oil but its better than seeing plumes of smoke i guess.

Not anymore, it was a little for a while but i finally got to the bottom of it and sorted it. it wasn't leaking much though wouldn't account for much if any of that litre that's gone

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Blue smoke

So i topped oil up and took it for a spin today. Judging by what I put in and the level it was when i last changed oil I'd say it's gone through about 1 litre in around 1500 miles. seems excessive Smokewise I wasn't really seeing much. occassionally when i booted it out of a corner in 2nd gear i wou...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Blue smoke

if the oil has been low you may have starved the turbo of oil :( it should have about 1mm up and down play and no in and out play. the hotpipes (between turbo and throttle body) will always get oil in them mate, that's nothing to worry about, unless you think it's excessive. That wouldn't explain t...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Blue smoke

just been out to look at car. oil level was actually just below MIN so will top that up before i take it for a spin. took intake pipe off the compressor and had a check for play. I don't really know how much play is a lot cos i've nothing to compare it with but if i had to say i would say there is a...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Blue smoke

Will take a look at turbo when I get a chance. Wouldn't have expected seals to go at just a year old though. Last time I felt for play couple months ago there wasn't any. Got restrictor ring from xxxx. 30 quid but u get two gaskets and new nuts and bolts. 2 inch restrictor into what was a 3inch stra...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Blue smoke

Apologies for starting a new topic on something that there are probably hundreds of already but thought it was the best way to see if anyone has seen symptoms like this before: Never noticed any smoke from the exhaust before but today when i was coasting down a hill in fifth gear off throttle i noti...

[Mk2] [Generic] options for aerial

My standard aerial is dead and am thinking of replacing it with something different. I have heard of people using the little stubby black ones off an s2000. Does anyone know if these are a good fit or any other similar options.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] persistent cam cover oil leak, help!

I think I may have found what was causing it. I'm not sure what the part is called but the semi circular clamp thing that holds down the camshaft where it connects to the distributor. One of the bolts holding it down turned out not to be fully tightened. I dunno what torque they should be at but i d...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] persistent cam cover oil leak, help!

Needs to be very clean. You can run sealant along the rear edge, I do I did clean it thoroughly. U just run a thin film of sealant along the metal surface of the head (ie under the gasket)?? or do u put it on the cam cover itself too (in the groove in which the gasket sits)? What sealant do u use m...

[Mk2] [Turbo] persistent cam cover oil leak, help!

So my cam cover won't stop leaking oil from the corner near the distributor. I re fit a genuine Toyota gasket myself and then had peter at sbits re do it, both times applying sealant in the right spots. Still leaking. I am tempted to do it again and completely smother the whole area with sealant. An...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Lot of oil Intake Crank Case breather to blame.

I recently took all my inlet piping apart and noticed small amounts of oil in the bottom of the piping around the connections all the way from the turbo to the throttle body. It was nowhere near as bad as the pictures above and isn't leaking out anywhere but did still concern me, wasn't sure if it w...
