Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] japspeed flexi section with mongoose backbox?

A MR2 exhaust system consists of all parts from the bottom flange of the cat/decat backwards. So your Mongoose backbox will need a Mongoose B pipe. That's annoying - not as good a deal as I first thought then  You know where I might be able to get hold of one of these? It's not urgent so i wil...

[Mk2] [Turbo] japspeed flexi section with mongoose backbox?

I've currently got a japspeed exhaust but I've just bought a mongoose on ebay which doesn't come with a flexi section. i was under the impression it was a standard part which will fit both but have since realised i may be wrong... does anyone know if these will fit or do I need to get hold of a mong...

Re: Top dashboard removal

I haven't had a go threading my DAB antenna yet but managed to break the A pillar trim when removing it. Most of it came away easy enough but didn't realise it had a thin bit protruding half way down the height of the door and my typically over aggressive approach caused it to snap off! ](*,) hopefu...

Re: Top dashboard removal

are you talking about the big piece that sits below the windscreen and spans the full width of the cabin? If so I would like some advice on removing this also - I am about to fit a digital radio aerial that sticks to the windscreen and the cable needs to run down the A pillar trim and behind the das...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Upgrading sound system - advice please

I have one of these behind my passenger seat, for the money I paid (£120 with staff discount) it's incredible. Obviously it's not as good as a proper enclosure but for something so small and self powered it's decent. I can still fit both Tbar panels behind the drivers seat easy and the strap for th...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Upgrading sound system - advice please

That's my setup big amp running vibe 5.25" 2 way front speakers and a small self contained kenwood sub/amp. The subs good for the money it's not massively noticeable on it's own but it leaves a big hole in the sound if you switch it off which is what you should be aiming for. So that rectangul...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Upgrading sound system - advice please

Nice - and were u using the stock amp with that little sub? have you by any chance still got that set up and want to sell it?? Is that sound deadening stuff expensive? is an alternative to get a good seal between the door card and front of speaker by modifying the door card and using some sort of pa...

[Mk2] [Generic] Upgrading sound system - advice please

Currently my car has the basic sound system (ie no sub/amp). I've got a decent head unit and upgraded the front components to some nice 6" aplines (with an mdf spacer) - although I think I have to do a better job of sealing around the speaker to stop the noise cancelling - anyone have any tips ...

Re: Normal oil consumption for a turbo MR2

Mine uses quite a bit if i drive it hard. I see a bit of a blue mist in the rear view mirror when I boost really hard. Last time I checked I had good compression all round and have been contemplating getting the turbo refurbished (it's a turbo technics hybrid CT26). How would I go about determining ...

If it's in safe mode and running a less aggressive map i'd love to see what it's like when not in safe mode!

Re: GT4 ecu

My rev 3 has a GT4 engine and GT4 ECU and I bought it like that so not entirely sure what they did with wires etc. I do know the PAS works and they did something to stop the Engine management light from working. When Peter discovered this he hooked it back up and the reason was clearly because a cha...

Re: Tyre choices

Anyone got any experience using contisportcontacts? I need some new rear tires for the turbo - on a budget though and seen a couple of good deals on falken fk452s and contisportcontacts (the first versions). I'm swaying towards the contis atm. any thoughts?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo knackered??

cheers for watchin the vid bob, I was under the impression a little play (up to about 1mm) was acceptable as they are 'floating' bearings...? I can see what u mean though - the blades look like they could start rubbing on the housing. So would that mean the bearings/oil seals/both are shot? and woul...
