Re: Scorpion 738 alarm

A bit of a thread resurrection - I had a Scorpion alarm in my MR2 when I bought it in 2012. Everything worked - alarm and central locking, until one day I welded a new arch panel, with the battery connected and it never engaged after that. It does still work, but the remote won't speak to the alarm ...

Re: Subwoofer headaches

There's a really slim Alpine subwoofer that would fit under the seat, but can't remember the code off the top of my head. It's from the 80's/90's and is a little bit expensive.

I have the standard one in mine, it isn't very bassy but can feel it up my bum.

Re: Standard Mk1b Teardrop Wheels wanted

Can you not give mk1a wheels away? I've got six of them - nobody wants them! I think they look good on similar era Toyotas.

It won't last, but it'll stop the leak until the rust starts spreading again.

MR2 mk1 OEM rear speaker alternatives

I've had dodgy rear speakers in my MR2 for years, listening to whatever music I listen to (ie Cannibal Corpse) is no fun hearing 3.5 inches of blown speaker crackling away behind you. I didn't want to buy cheap aftermarket speakers as you can't get them in 3.5", they might not fit, and they're ...

It's an inverter, but on Japanese currency (110V).

I think there was an AC pump on ebay not long ago, it may still be there!
At least the 4AGE has the two belt pulley there for it.

Re: Rear arches repair , the datsun method

You can get a retaining nut from Toyota that screws onto the thread and holds the spring down, it's about £2. part number 09756-00010 I did it in the past on MGF calipers (equally as bad), and it was a good amount of messing getting the spring compressed and the circlip on! Toyota nut took 10 second...

Re: Stereo wiring / power antenna

Pink/blue wire powers the interior clock, stereo and aerial power, it's a switched live, but I think the aerial lower is powered by the dome light live so it can lower when the car is deactivated. I fitted a 90's Celica aerial to mine and it fits fine - it has the relay in place, all you do is swap ...

Re: Rear arches repair , the datsun method

Just checked on Hadrian website and they still have mk3/4 Escort 3-door rear arches in stock for £20 each. They look about as close to the MR2 arches as you can probably get.

Definitely mk2 as my mate gave me his when he scrapped the car!
Just had a proper look today and they aren't wide enough. Good as a stop gap.

Re: Rear arches repair , the datsun method

Great work. My rear arches are in terrible condition. They need to be sorted pronto. I replaced one side a number of years ago with a m1 or mk2 Fiesta rear arch panel. It's pretty much a perfect shape fit. I think they're still available as well. Unfortunately I rushed it as I had to take a girl out...

Re: Replacing brake pads DIY

I don't mean to bump an 11 year old thread - but: The description is a little vague on this. I've had new calipers and rebuilt old calipers, even brand new handbrake cables (as much has been said on this, my 27 year old cables were not stretched in comparison to the new ones), and never get an mot p...

Re: Drivers footwell leak from windscreen vents

Possibly rust hole right behind the dash. Pull the carpet back and peer up behind you'll probably see it. Mine has the same, not big but big enough to let water in.

The mk6 Celica has the same type of fairer with the metal hoop. It also has a plastic stay on the top so it never drops down. Swaps over a treat!

It's the number plate mount. These screw in the bumper frame. And then corrode and fall off.
