Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

The shop removed the crank from the block, poilshed the bearing surface, replaced the bearings, hooned the cylinder walls, replaced the pistons rings. The shop owner also removed the valves from the head, checked the valve guides ( all good ) ,remilled the exhaust valve seats, grinded in all valves ...

Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

We teared down the engine fully and found quiet good cylinder walls for a 200k km+ engine as well as reusable pistons: http://www.toyotacarina.de/mr2_rebirth_81.jpg http://www.toyotacarina.de/mr2_rebirth_82.jpg Packed the head, the block and the pistons with the rods in tubs and brought it to a engi...

Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

So we brought the MR2 back to my pal´s garage using a trailer ( where we curbed the wheels again ](*,) ) and pulled the engine again: http://www.toyotacarina.de/mr2_rebirth_79.jpg After removing the exhaust header I´ve got a hint where the oil got burned: http://www.toyotacarina.de/mr2_rebirth_80.jpg

Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

Bump ! So another three years has gone my MR2 was stored in his shed and wasn´t driven. http://www.toyotacarina.de/mr2_rebirth_78.jpg In the review it wasn´t the best idea to not open the 200k km engine fully before the install. It came as it had to. The engine showed a enormous oil consumption due...

Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

It isn't impossible to get non TÜV approved parts legalized here in Germany. It's just difficult and expensive. My other project car, a 1992 Celica Carlos Sainz, is fitted with non approved parts all over ( Tein suspension, Work wheels, Safety Devices rollcage, Takata belts, HKS exaust, HKS blow off...

Re: Borbet A Alloy Wheels to fit Mk1

9x16 +15 offset will barely fit the stardart arches but they have to be rolled and You´ll have to use 215/40-16 on them.

A mate of me got this combo on his MR2:

Re: Project MRX350

Are You useing the Innovate system offen ? I heard it´s not trustworthy on long term use. I´ve choosen the system from Zeitronix because of that.

I immolated two vent grills for the info center on my Celica too:

Re: Project MRX350

Bevor I kicked the plans for the engine swap on my Mk1 I was looking for a nice option to display additional results like oil temp and boost. As I hate collections of gauges in my cars I bought a very nice item that may be interesting for You too. An old school HKS Camp System: http://i131.photobuck...

Re: wide spacers

As the hubs at any Toyota have a really short centralization You´ll need longer studs for 5 to 15 mm spacers per side. From 20 mm per side You can use the DRM spacers from H&R wich have own build in studs to bolt the wheels on:

D2 is the same bull.... as K Sport: Cheap China stuff. Always the same dampers for every car, brake line brackets You´ll have to fabricate out of universal parts and often fitting problems.

The brake kits are even more worse...

Here in Germany these nuts are available very cheap as aftermarket parts so it makes no sense to reburbish used ones:

Re: Taking delivery of a Haslbeck Mr2

Two totaly different kits. The Fritzinger is much wider and much more edged, plus the Fritzinger kit don´t use the stock bumpers like the Haslbeck kit does: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v624/paddy1970/woodsport/Woodsport8/Img_2038_zps64d9c10c.jpg http://www.toyotacarina.de/haslbeck4.jpg http://...

Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

Getting a engine swap legal is difficult here, but not impossibel. Special on older cars with the less restrictiv emission rules a swap could be legalized. It would only be expensive ( around 1500 Euro to get it into papers) . But there is no way to get a V6 swapped Mk1 registraded as a historic car...

Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

It's difficult to get a engine swap streetlegal here in Germany plus there's never bin a other engine than the 4A-GE avaiabel stock so with an swaped engine I can't get a historic reistration when her becomming 30 years old in 2016 . Only choice would be a 4A-GZE .I've still got one, but I decided a...
