Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

Today the shell and the engine had it´s wedding. Hooked up the engine with the bolted on tranny and stored it in the pit: http://www.toyotacarina.de/mr2_rebirth_57.jpg Pushed back the car over the engine and pulled the engine back up again: http://www.toyotacarina.de/mr2_rebirth_58.jpg Connected all...

Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

Made some huge progress in the last days. So here comes an update. Assembled the engine more and more, beginning with an 4A-FE dustshield (needed to relocate the starter motor) ,the engine loom and the lightend flywheel: http://www.toyotacarina.de/mr2_rebirth_50.jpg followed by the Exedy stage 1 upg...

Re: Project MRX350

Nice item, but it will not have the lovely effect of the original one: Projecting the "TOYOTA" writing to the back window.

I love this feature !

Re: Project MRX350

I don't like black wheels. Will soak out the edges of the centers too. Why not gunmetal grey ? Would match the CF parts even better IMHO .

Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

I´ve heard of lightened flywheels that failed. Hope mine won´t. Was made by a guy who has modified some more in the past. I think he know what he´s doing there. There wasn´t took away so much steel in the center section. He only skimmed the surface. Was thinking to buy a factory made light flywheel ...

Assembled the gearbox today. Replaced the driveshaft sealings, the speed sensor by the used bought speedo drive and bolted the custom made bracket to the upper side: http://www.toyotacarina.de/mr2_rebirth_46.jpg Also compared the milled flywheel to a stock one: http://www.toyotacarina.de/mr2_rebirth...

Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

Yes, and that brought me a new problem. I will need to swap the speedo drive. The Corolla box has a electonic sensor in and I need the mechanic drive but distroyed the one from the old box by try to get it out of it´s home. ](*,)

Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

I don´t have the skills and tools to build a complete gearbox like You, Paul. So I use the Corolla gearbox including it´s housing wich means to build a custom bracket as only one thread is equal on the upper side of the box. Plus: As I bought an additional set of brackets and a shifting mechanic fro...

Re: MR2 AW11 Front Valance corners,Part No ?. ...

Maybe worth the work. I´m sure You can sell them. They´re mostly rotten and I´m nearby sure they´re discontinued by Toyota like most of the body parts.

Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

Finally made great steps forward on the gear box conversion. Found a machine shop who was able to mill a hole into the hardened shifter shaft: http://www.toyotacarina.de/mr2_rebirth_34.jpg Pressed a hardened dowel pin into the unneeded borehole so stiff up the shaft in that sector: http://www.toyota...

Never seen this kit. Must be custom made. A bit to sharp edges on the front wings, but nice moulded in an widened rear bumper.

Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

Me too !

The Borbet A matches the AW11 so well like they was made for it. The edged shape of the center and the flat areas repeating the forms of the car, special with this bodykit.

I´ve searched for an alternative but I didn´t found one that fit so well.

Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures

Basicly I´m not a uge fan of bodykits, but I like the Fritzinger kit as it makes the car unique, has a tough history and embody the 80th soooo well. The "High Tech" kit Toyota Germany sold in that times, made by Haslbeck is to smooth and to rounded I think: http://www.carsablanca.de/files/...

I don't have good pictures of it, but I can upload some old ones took at a meeting some years ago this evening.

Already booked a semi professional photographer who made really nice pictures of my other project car.

Re: Corolla gt-s head

But both where fitted with cat and EGR, don't they ?

Nearby every german 1b was fitted with cat, but the 89 reg non cat 1b I've splited for parts was MAP type (and a import from Denmark ) and the 1b non cat Spain import from a mate of me is MAP type too.

Thats not correct. EU spec 1b only use AFM if they had a cat. The non cat EU 1b had MAP too !
