Re: rev3

Might be worth changing the PCV valve to see if that helps, they're not too expensive

Re: Anyone done a quick release bumper?

Maybe get in touch with jdnymr2 on instagram - he's running wide wheels, air ride etc. and I'm fairly certain his bumper is removable as it has the visible quick release ties.

Re: K20/k24 swaps

K-swap only seems worth doing if you're going FI in my opinion - a fair bit of work for little gains if you stay NA (and building NA is obviously never cheap!) You might save about 50-60kg NA at a guess? :-k

Re: How long to change rocker cover gasket

I'd say 2-3 hours - depends if you've done it before!

Probably worth changing the throttle body gaskets while you're at it too :thumleft:

EDIT Also gotta allow a couple of hours for giving the rocker cover a shiny new coat of silver too

Re: Wide arches

They look AWESOME 8) But the price.. wow. It may be worth contacting Campos (Camposites) in the states to see if he'd be able to produce a small run for a group buy? I think he's supplied a few IMOC group buys of splitters etc. in the past :-k I'd be in for a group buy, then we can be twinsies in ou...

Re: Turbo Clutch upgrade options

Can't see the link you posted - think it may be to the site of one of the banned traders on here  I've been through quite a few different clutches over the years - currently running a Competition Clutch Stage 4 with light flywheel (bought from Larkspeed website) and it's been pretty good but is...

Re: Any way to locate discontinued oem parts?

If you managed to get hold of a used light for the other side I can vouch for how well they come out with a rub down and re-lacquer. I had mine sorted about 2 years ago when the car having a full respray and they still look mint. No orange peel or crazing etc. I'd imagine they were probably sanded b...

Re: total car respray

I'd sooner go for the 'looked after' red car which runs well than a bit of a project needing work - colour isn't really that important. At the end of the day you're not going to see the outside of it while you're driving! Plus red does look really good on an MR2. Personal preference though. I'm at t...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] LSD'S

I've got a TRD in mine and it's very grabby - especially when turning out of junctions etc. you're reminded that it's there as the inner tyre rips chunks out of the tarmac  As mentioned there's a slight initial understeer (but I think that's just an MR2 thing tbh) and then at the apex of the co...

Haha that's why I had mine off!! There were no bolts holding mine on

Had to cut and shape some new steel to rivet into place and fix to, not a fun job getting in there..

Re: S148 from Turbo Technics

I THINK that it might be ok now. Let it warm up earlier and then revved it a bit - a few puffs of smoke when just revving it up a bit but nothing when sustaining revs at any point. Then nipped down to Northampton Motorsport to book it for a geo setup tomorrow as I had the wheel bearing replaced on F...

Re: S148 from Turbo Technics

Fitted another ECU yesterday and went for a 20 mile drive in the evening - didn't notice AS much smoke but it did definitely smell quite a bit when sat at lights etc. And when I got back held the revs at 4k to find that it still chugs blue smoke at higher rpm. It's still performing faultlessly thoug...

Re: S148 from Turbo Technics

We shall see (where's the popcorn emoji when you need it) FWIW I confirmed again this morning with the mechanic who fitted my turbo that he cleaned out the return line etc. and he was absolutely adamant that he did and that it wasn't particularly gunged up! Picking up a standard ECU tomorrow, ...

Re: S148 from Turbo Technics

Yeah I was just reading that! I think I'm going to buy a standard ECU and see what happens. As I said last night this problem has arisen since the moment the engine was started with the S148 so it's very likely to be either the turbo or ECU right?

Re: S148 from Turbo Technics

I've tightened the manifold and turbo to DP/adapter block bolts all up - some were a bit looser than I'd have done them but not massively. Put it all back together making extra sure that there was no capability for leaks in the hardpipes or vacuum lines, and started her up. Haven't been for a drive ...
