Re: Torn between two , mr2 turbo or Subaru impreza WRX ?
Agree with Rob is saying at the 'event' of driving the MR2 - it feels special. I came from a Bugeye WRX with 313bhp - went through 4 gearboxes in the 10 months of ownership and poured at least a few thousand into 'trying to make it an STI'. I'd strongly advise stumping the extra cash for an STI in t...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] current recommended clutch kit
Wouldn't recommend the Exedy - it was toast after only a couple of thousand miles on my Rev 3 (maybe 300bhp). Now running Competition Clutch stage 4 and it's much better and still very driveable :thumleft: My experience here: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1665441&sid=f9d6d551d59a7...

Was the geometry set up again having reverted to the Rev 5 suspension?

Re: front end downforce
Struggled with this for ages. After a LOT of experimentation with fabricating splitters, canards, bonnet vents etc. the biggest difference came from getting the geometry sorted! And finally finding a suspension combination which I get on with. The trick is getting the front end ever so slightly lowe...

Re: all the people with a crunchy gearbox
I had mine rebuilt earlier this year having lost fourth gear on a 'spirited' drive. No warnings, just stopped going into gear :eye: Also paid a similar amount - but it's worth it to know that it's been done and you needn't worry about it again! Mine was rebuilt by a local gearbox specialist with Toy...

Wouldn't advise removing the standard radiator and replacing with this intercooler

May be worth speaking to Craig, IIRC he had Pete rebuild his AC system from scratch about 2 years ago so will probably have a rough idea of costs and parts needed

Looks like you could do with a support bar for the bottom of the engine lid Jon - what's going on there? Give me a shout if you want a bit of aluminium box section or something to straighten it out

Re: 99 BEAMS REV 5
I've always wondered about the BEAMS - kind of think it may be more suited to fast road driving than the turbo as you could probably wring the power out of it and spend less time on the brakes  Probably comparable power to weight to a DC2, might be a lot of fun :-k Only problem is they seem to ...

Re: Rev 3 Turbo clutch options - UPDATE, help?
Ended up going for a CC stage 4 clutch and ultralight flywheel - turns out the Exedy had eaten itself since August, about 2000 miles. The lightweight flywheel also had next to no surface left  Gone way overkill because I just cba with these issues anymore! So far the clutch is very friendly tho...

Most of the time it just needs a good drive
If I leave mine sitting a couple of weeks it doesn't like it, just need to warm the old girl up again

Re: Bedford Autodrome MSV 19th June
Bedford Autodrome are very serious about their noise levels. It's a giant PITA I took a mate's Del Sol with a B18C6 and decatted standard exhaust - it was still too loud and I had to spend until about 1pm shoving whatever I could find into the exhaust system to make it quieter  The lack of powe...

Re: Suspension advice
I would say you cut half a coil from the front springs of whatever brand you go for but I tried this and ruined a brand new pair of front Apex springs  Half a coil should be safe enough with a thin cutting disc but unfortunately even that small amount made the spring too loose and it didn't sit...

Re: Suspension advice
I like my Koni yellows but have a feeling one of them is knocking after only 4000 miles (at a guess). As for springs I'm still hunting for a set which I'm really happy with - currently running Apex rears with unknown fronts as the Apex fronts were wayyyy too high. Happy with them though, and I've tr...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] H&R -20mm lowering springs - they drop a lot lower than 20mm?
Pretty certain I don't even have bump stops - haven't noticed any adverse effects though..? I'm running Koni yellows with Apex springs.
I've found with every set of matching springs for the MR2 that the front ALWAYS sits higher. It's a massive PITA

Already have too many sets of wheels
Although I do need a set of 15" x x 7J or 8J 4x100 for the MX5 if you have any?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev3 cams in a rev 2 head?
I may be wrong but I vaguely remember that the Rev 1/2 cams are actually a slight upgrade over the Rev 3+ cams. May also be talking complete rubbish though so don't take my word for it, might just be Rev 1 NA cams into a Rev 3 turbo head or something like that
