Re: Evening drive

It was a very small meet. We had 80 cars to a meet last year but I think this one wasn't very well publicised.

Evening drive

Just got back from a car meet in MK. I always forget how much I love this MR2 until I get a bit of open road =P~ Also had a chance to drive it for an hour and get everything properly warmed up - all just felt so much slicker and eager to boost as a result. Just amazes me how well it pulls in the hig...

Re: B.O.V. blanking plate

I've just done this the easy way to see how it feels (remove two vac lines from the BOV and block the single vacuum that was going to the BOV). Not sure yet but I only went for a 5 min drive and the roads are greasy - it does seem to drop out of boost range if you don't shift lightning fast all the ...

Re: B.O.V. blanking plate

AFAIK it's a standard CT20b. I'm going to do it this week at some point. I've been reading into this - arguments back and forth and misinformation from every corner of the internet, for at least 3 years now. There are a LOT of people running standard turbos BOV-less so screw it! Worst comes to worst...

Also if it's a Rev 1 (maybe a 2 also) you'll need a hammer, the lights won't sit far enough into the bodywork otherwise :thumleft:

Re: MK2s finally benefiting from the upturn of modern classic prices?

I'm with AF too for my cars because they were about £1500 cheaper than the competition. I have car insurance because it's a necessity, but I essentially expect nothing in return if something unfortunate does happen. As long as they cover any other involved parties if I'm at fault then I can live wit...

Re: B.O.V. blanking plate

I am a complete moron sometimes - how do you actually do this? I tried to blank off the BOV on my Scooby and it refused to start so have never tried it since  Can easily make an aluminium blanking plate, but not sure which vacuum to take off and attach to what? OP if you want a blanking ...

I've got a decent condition crash bar you can have for postage if you need one mate, just bolts on. It's from a Rev 1 NA but should be the same :thumleft:

Re: Someone crashed into my car - insurance want to write it off!

If you have any sort of receipt from purchasing the car two months ago then I'm pretty certain that is proof of the value?

Sorry to hear about the crash anyway

Re: MK2s finally benefiting from the upturn of modern classic prices?

I love my mk1 MX5 but agree that it's nowhere near as 'special' as the MR2. It does all the balls-out driving stuff brilliantly but that's about it IMO. On a track they'd probably perform similarly, and the MX5 would be more fun because lightweight y0 but every time I drive the MR2 I'm breaking neck...

Re: [FINALIZED] ADVAN Performance exhaust backbox *LINK ATTACHED FOR PICS*

Would somebody really go to the trouble of having Advan stainless plaques made up for the odd exhaust though? I think it probably is genuine but has been fixed/adjusted in the past looking at the welding :-k

Never knew Advan made exhausts though as above

Re: 9j eat rear wheels

I think you might have some rubbing. I'm running 8J et 33 rears with a 25mm spacer - 225/45/16 and they do scrub occasionally on bumpy corners etc. You could probably get away with just using some camber bolts to bring the top of the wheel in though EDIT my wheels are sticking out about 1/2" fu...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Lightweight flywheel

I run ligtened flywheels on my MR2 and MX5, love them :thumleft: Haven't experienced any problems pulling away, or found it a pain to drive etc. Just makes the car feel even quicker really :clown: Definitely worth pairing with a grabby/aftermarket clutch though as otherwise the clutch just seems to ...
