Re: Replacement seat suggestions
Umm, yeah, well, nice as they are, I can't help but think noble seats are pretty scarce and therefore probably pretty expensive. I read elsewhere here on imoc that someone rated GT86 seats very highly (any other gt86 owners here?), and as they're a more common car are a bit more available. (i've see...

Replacement seat suggestions
What 'aftermarket' seats have people used in the SW20 ? I like the idea of a pair of GT86 seats (because they're probably plentiful/cheap) as I've heard they're very comfortable. I've no idea whether they'll fit in the sw20 or what rails will be needed. What alternative seats are people using ? Gavs

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] It is possible to obtain 300 cv/224 KW with ct26?
How much loss from the transmission is there? Not sure he was after RWHP numbers, think he was thinking crank. Much easier than wheel hp. Somewhere between 15 and 20 percent I believe. Someone quotes 300 at the wheels - the engine is probably producing 350 at the crank Mine is ~292 at the fly and ~...

Re: Shades of 3E5 Red...
As I was saying - there really are 3 different reds out there :) Yep, 3J6, 3E5 and faded   Ok, were you at the birthday party in Warwick ? Have you had a look for any of the photos ? (lots of FB, some on here but none of the 3J6 rev1s are visible). There were lots of cars there, some cle...

Re: Shades of 3E5 Red...
What colour is on your VIN plate? Yours looks like 3E5 to me. Defo not 3J6. I will have a look on the VIN plate. Either that or it was 3J6 and it's been fully resprayed in 3E5. my first MR2 was 3J6 and it was a LOT darker than your car. Pretty sure it's not been resprayed - it was very pink when i ...

Re: Shades of 3E5 Red...
3J6 is "Super Red III" aka "Crimson Red". Is this thread about different paint codes or about the variable shades within those paint codes? Every paint has a pretty wide variation in within it's own "palette". I don't know if Toyota bothered purging the lines/guns betw...

Re: Shades of 3E5 Red...
There are only 2 reds for MK2s: 1. 3J6 Crimson (Rev1) 2. 3E5 Super Red (Rev 2+) There are demonstrably 3 reds in the sw20, though I'm pretty sure this isn't on the marketing materials for them. I believe these are: Crimson Red (Rev 1) Super Red 2 (Rev 2) Super Red 3 (Rev 3+) At the birthday bash la...

Re: Where to souce 2gr FE
They aren't very common in the UK, I think they are in
Lotus Evora
Lexus RX350.
You want the 2GR-FE, not the 2GR-FSE.
They're a lot more plentiful in the US and if you are in a hurry that's where you look.

Re: MK2s finally benefiting from the upturn of modern classic prices?
The thread title was all about our beloved 2's and the value the market puts on them as potential classics and collectors cars. Let's not try and just rubbish all that by implying it's not possible to cut a deal for appropriate insurance on them. Yes - I don't want this to derail into a squabble ab...

Re: MK2s finally benefiting from the upturn of modern classic prices?
Adrian Flux et al require a valuation from an independent valuer to actually provide a hard agreed value. They'll want you to provide them with the valuers report, which the underwriter will take a look at, and then requote you based on the value provided. Expect the premium to increase. The values ...

Re: MK2s finally benefiting from the upturn of modern classic prices?
I have been through the rather comedic dialogue of discussing agreed value with Adrian Flux (insurer is usually Equity Red Star). If you press them on what the £4k value really means, it doesn't stand up. They are not above telling you what you want to hear to get your premium into their hands. Ther...

Re: MK2s finally benefiting from the upturn of modern classic prices?
The NA is all over the place, seen them from anything from 500 quid to 8k. For a good example with OK miles and no rust they should be well over 2k at least and should start to climb higher in the near future. Had mine valued this year. 2GR, 6 Speed, No rust, triggers broom refurbed. Slightly dull ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Lightweight flywheel
If you have a light fly, it helps if you have a 'slippy' clutch, as opposed to a grabby clutch. I had a fidanza and an ACT clutch, didn't like it. Needed lots of revs or the grab could stall the engine, and if it bit too hard you launch scarily quickly. I use a helix clutch now which is more like OE...
