Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo big brake covertion
A big brake kit will not make you stop any quicker =; Stopping distance is down to your tyres. Bigger brakes will resist fade under hard driving conditions as they will dissipate heat better than smaller ones. Also sometimes can improve pedal modulation depending on the kit. I run the WMS kit on th...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Cold start sensor & closed / open loop educate me?
Closed loop is when the exhaust is up to temperature, the o2 sensor in your exhaust sends a signal back to the ecu sayig "rich", or "lean". The ECU uses this to adjust the amount of fuel and when to fire the spark plugs using that feedback. It is aiming for an optimial air fuel m...

Previous thread on the subject: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=189664&highlight= I have a quaife and previous had a rather poor turbo LSD in an E153. As it's a road car there isnt a massive difference. I'm sure the turbo LSD (like most of them) was so old it kind of functioned like...

Re: 2grfe insurance quote
Gouky has worked out how to modify bits of the 2gr-ecu, mainly because he wanted to remove the immobiliser and some of the auto-box transmission fault codes that were preventing cars passing muster in California. He's also found the location of some registers for things like fuel cut/max rpm, and ob...

I believe this design was inspired by the factory equivalent already on a mk1.

The mk1 version is transparent and has a toyota decal on it, not solid coloured.

Re: 2grfe insurance quote
yeah - supercharging brings you a new set of challenges and costs - aftermarker (or lotus) ECU, larger injectors, charge cooling of some sort, more weight (where you don't want it), more complexity of servicing. I think that you'd get to maybe 400bhip. If you want to go over 300, the 3s-gte may be a...

Re: 2grfe insurance quote
It's about 8-9k for a woodsport swap and around 6-7k for a diy swap. Physically the engine is a drop in fit with a woodsport drivers mount the same as all the v6 swaps but there's alot of wiring and ancillary stuff to sort but it is diyable, The issue is it's a huge amount of cash to put in an Mr2 ...

Re: 2grfe insurance quote
hi am considering doing a 2grfe engine swop but wondered if anyone had any idea of insurance costs previously quote Circumstances of where the car lives (Postccode, garaged or not, etc), your age and driving history) appear to have a more significant bearing on insurance cost than it being a 2gr. M...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] JDM directional fog lamps
Switch up = on, no steering. Switch down = on with steeering. You sure about that? I think mine is the opposite. Owners Manual says Press the top of the switch for operation in accordance to the turning direction of the steering wheel. Press the bottom of the switch for normal fog light operation. ...

Re: Windscreens
So autotrader finally redeemed themselves
- they turned up with a decent screen and fitted it without any headache.
Existing surround was re-used as it was pretty new.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

The checklist earlier in the thread seems decent advice

Re: Windscreens
I've heard from Autoglass this morning that they're struggling to source stock of this screen
(the ones they have in their hands are in some way defective) and that Toyota have discontinued it.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Where does that leave us
? When the stock dries up completely, where do we get replacements
?

Re: Ceiling prices for turbo's as per year and condition
Echoing what Jim has said. I've sunk a fortune into mine over the 16 years I've owned it, more in restorative maintenance than in upgrades. There's not a chance I'll get back what I've put into it, but I do it to keep it roadworthy, reliable and fun. You are unlikely to be able to 'make' money on an...

* make sure the new windscreen is the correct tint * make sure the new windscreen has the sunvisor if you want one (optional) * make sure the new windscreen has no defects * make sure the fitter has a new weatherstrip as there is a chance one that is over 20 years old wont be reusable once the wind...

Tuesday comes and about an hour after earliest arrival time the phone rings, they don't have the glass! They knew they needed it for 5 days!! wtf. Windscreens
I've been ratther shafted by Autoglass. Had an appointment Sunday 17th for them to replace my windscreen. They (said they) could source the correct, bronze tint, non-sunstrip glass that my car requires. The fitter removed the existing screen, his main concern being the possibility of rust around the...
