Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Painting engine parts questions
Thanks for all the advice iv decided to follow your advice and got myself some foliatec for the engine parts and so far looks awesome very happy with the end results. As for the x strut brace I went with basic spraying as it doesn't get as hot as bits on the engine so far has held up to the heat aft...

[Mk2] [Turbo] A few questions regarding boost
Hi all I no this has probably been covered many many times but here goes anyway. Iv got a rev1 n/a import with a rev 1 turbo engine fitted all standard except for induction kit fitted and metal head gasket too, am planning on upping boost to 1 bar/14.5 psi via manual boost controller and as far as I...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Swapping the instrument cluster help or tips
Sure - swapping in a 160mph dial will work perfectly. You can reset the odometer to match your car and it'll count in miles not KM from then on. You can mix and match the dials, BTW. It's pretty easy to disassemble the clusters, remove the 160mph speedo from the NA cluster, pop it in the turbo clus...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Swapping the instrument cluster help or tips
What's the motivation to swap the cluster? The 110mph speedo? Cos swapping to a turbo cluster won't change that - 180kph speedo is the same thing as a 110mph one. Being a rev1, your speedo is cable driven and thus the new speedo must also be cable driven. To convert to a 180mph speedo you will need...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Swapping the instrument cluster help or tips
I'm planning on either swapping my instrument cluster this weekend or simply upgrading the bulbs in existing cluster for led's. the cluster in there at the moment is the N/A set which goes up to 110mph and I have a turbo set to go in but not having done this before am a bit hesitant is it simple swa...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Rev1 bov standard or aftermarket?
Been reading a lot of horror stories about rev1/2 mk2's not being able to handle having an aftermarket BOV dump to atmosphere fitted as it messes with the AFM and causes over fuelling just wondering is this true and should I stick with standard BOV or risk it for a biscuit and fit aftermarket one. P...

Re: is boost gauge right or is something wrong?
I'm going to presume you mean 0.5/0.7 bar not psi, if so, and your car is stock, that's normal. The car runs lower (but actuator pressure) boost in first 2 gears, then iirc, 3rd onwards has an inbuilt boost controller which allows it to run higher boost (doing it this way allows the car to revert b...

is boost gauge right or is something wrong?
Basicly i fitted an aftermarket mechanical boost gauge today and got it all wired in correctly properly grounded and live is on a switched source too. I have T'd off the pipe leading into the inlet manifold on the left hand side of IM as standing at rear of car. So my query is that when the car is i...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] metal coolant pipe leak
Just seen the leaky pipe its not the long metal coolant pipes that run down the length of the car its a small metal pipe just above the fuel tank think it goes to heater matrix or something. Went for a 5 min test drive and temp gauge was just under red so leaking quite quickly wen under pressure, id...

As far a I no its the coolant pipe as he said its the long metal pipe that runs down the length of the car and is obstructed by the fuel tank.
