Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Engine management light
Yes, disconnected speedo = engine management light. It won't affect the car in any other way, with the exception that the built in speed limiter is now disabled. Brilliant thanks for putting my mind at rest massive relief. My next question is iv just takenmy old clocks out 110mph ones and replaced ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Poor brakes can't see why tho
Thanks for all the advice guys much appreciated. As far as I know the fluid has never been changed so probably a good idea to start with that first and then go from there. Anyone know what fluid I need? Is it just usual dot4 stuff or something different. Cheers again.

[Mk2] [Turbo] Poor brakes can't see why tho
Hi guys my brakes have been really poor for a while now but they still worked so hadn't got round to it. Finally got the front wheels off today thinking it would be the discs and pads but they seem fine, pads are about 3/4 full and discs aren't scorn or scratched and have a minimal lip on the edge b...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Q's regarding Oem bov
If you disconnect the vacuum the BOV will stay shut so you have no air passed through to the next BOV. You would have to use an addapter or try to remove the intenals of the stock BOV. Its up to you if you want to vent to atmosphere, its not a good idea on a REV1 or 2. What if I used a t piece so t...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Q's regarding Oem bov

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Smoke??????
Thanks for all of your answers. To answer Nics question in a bit more detail the colour of the smoke is defiantly not black seems to be white but again I only catch a glimpse of it in rear view mirror it's defiantly not a major cloud it leaves behind but (just) visible in the mirror. And I only not...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Smoke??????
I'm not an expert but I had a friend with a Gt4 so the same engine and his had dodgy turbo oil seals, and it showed smoke on overrun and when at idle never when it accelerated. Yes badly worn turbo seals can cause smoke on idle and on overrun. Usually though the first signs of turbo seal wear is wh...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Smoke??????
A puff of bluish smoke when initially accelerating will probably be the turbo oil seal. Get someone to follow you to see how bad it is, not really a major issue but it will get gradually worse. Gradually worse as in what will happen eventually??? Turbo fail or just more smoke? Just so I can gauge h...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Smoke??????
Have noticed recently that when I put my foot down to accelerate away fairly quickly I leave a bit of smoke behind not so much as a cloud but defiantly a haze mainly notice it in 3rd gear may be the other gears too but haven't noticed. Any ideas as to what's causing this and a cure. Rev1 turbo btw. ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Disabling fuel cut without fuel cut defencer
I've done this. Just take the vac hose of a map sensor (only if you have a rev1/2!) and it's done, boost to how much you want :thumleft:[/quote] sorry to jump into someone elses post but I have a rev 1 turbo and also wish to disable fuel cut without a FCD will only be running around 1 bar or just un...

Re: Horn doesn't work
i recently had the same problem mine turned out to be a disconnected wire in the steering wheel, pop the centre cap off and have a look at yours. if all seems ok, test the horn with a fused bit of wire to the battery if it works then you know its a fault in your wiring somewer and not a faulty horn....
