Re: 2ZZ-GE, is it worth?

I wrote the seller some days ago but still hasn't reply, maybe he is bussy or something.

If the 5 speed LSD will fit the 6 speed there is no problem, I have some experience with the gearbox.

I'm from Spain and I will do the swap by myself, thanks for the recomendation anyway.

Re: 2ZZ-GE, is it worth?

Seems like there is a bit of a debate on the matter. I get that the 2ZZ engine isn't too different than the 1ZZ in normal usage, you need to get to the track or be a bit of a maniac to use the full potential on the streets. Personally since my engine has so many miles on it and is my daily driver I ...

It would work with the 5 speed gearbox BUT the ratios are all wrong for keeping the car in lift and you will loose a lot of the reason why you want to change the engine in the first place. The factory 2zz box is much more suited to the engine.

What do you mean about the ratios?

2ZZ-GE, is it worth?

Hi, my original 1ZZ has done close to 200k miles, still runs smooth but is burning oil for a long time. I treat it well so maybe it could last a lot more miles but I'm thinking about a engine swap. I like the idea of the 2ZZ-GE but also have some questions. About power output, I found this graph on ...

Re: Tear tyre wear

I take corners at the edge of the grip but no power slides, maybe a bit on some roundabouts.

Re: Tear tyre wear

I have been trying some models, 3 tires ago they wear the inner first, then the Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin wear on the exterior first, I think due to the softness of the wall, the last one are some cheap Nexen and the wear is even. I made the adjustments last year, the rear only have camber and i...

Tear tyre wear

Hi, I have a stock 2000 MR2 and is wearing the back tires like crazy. the last 3 sets lasted less than 4000km, front tires are fine. I drive usually on roads, no city, fast in the corners. Some months ago I had to replace a bearing on the gearbox, didn't touch the diff. Had to remove the suspension ...

WOW, you just did the dream of any MR2 spyder owner come true! A busted engine MR2 and a 2ZZ with the 6 speed gearbox, I want the same... Please post some videos, a 0-60 run, response overtaking, could be inspiring.

Thanks!

This was a very cool and insane project! three years later it could be smoking rubber on the streets or under a pile dust in a garage...

I would like to know what happend to it as well.

The matter is that at my work I can order a variety of materials like O-rings and is free for me.

I just came from de dealer and now they are selling the complete tensioner, not the spare o-ring... more than 37€

Re: Choosing front tyres

Actually the geometry was right, seems like the previous tyres had a lot of milleage on them or where a bad compound, maybe this car tends to wear the inside of the front tyres becouse of the light weight at the front, only time will tell.

Finally I got the Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 and I´m very happy with the results. The wall of the tyre is a bit soft but is a plus in confort and the grip is great.

Re: Choosing front tyres

I'm from Spain and these are my cheapest and fastest delivery options (I´m kind of a rush) within my online stores: HANKOOK VENTUS R-S2 Z212: reviews are good, similar to Proxes R888 but a lot cheaper, not too much grip on wet. PILOT EXALTO PE2: I allready know and love them, the most expensive of m...

Re: Choosing front tyres

I just found out that the inside of the front tyres are badly wear, so the toe-in should be really off specs, that could be part of the problem with the understeering, that only occurs at low speeds. About the Continental Premium Contact 2, I had been researching and not all the comments were good, ...

Choosing front tyres

Hi, is time to replace the front tyres and I can't decide... My car understeers a bit so I want better front grip without breaking the bank. Nice, I'll have no problem with that, meanwhile the actual engine still running, saving money for another one anyway.
