Re: Salvaged panels?

I rekon if you asked someone in the breaking section they would assist you. I guess so - I probably didn't think that one through too well :D Was wondering more from the general point of specialists/dealers etc... with so many of these broken for business now, I'd have thought there would be market...

Salvaged panels?

I know new genuine panels for Mk2 MR2s are scarce/expensive, and pattern don't exist.

But does anyone chop up shells for and sell salvage panels?

I know the most demanded panels - sill area - are going to still be scarce, its more the upper quarter I'm interested in?

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Mr2 Sills

Someone did make a group set on the other forum but it was drawn out and took ages. Didn't type at though. I don't see why it would be expensive - get a template and knock em out in batches of 20 pairs. They'd fly here. The cars are at the age now where I keep seeing amazing examples being parted o...

[Mk2] [Turbo] What kit is this?

Looks pretty, and goes very well with the Rev2 spoiler... perhaps it is just this angle, but I like that shape!

Another great job runout - you do that yourself?

Hows it been done, did the full sill come off, or just the affected area?

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Mr2 Sills

After discovering mine need changing I have been trawling through the the many threads on Sill repairs and replacements I stil can't find a supplier of new parts unless I have missed it. However, if not there is definitely a market here for someone with some fabrication experience....know anyone?? ...

Re: mr2 sills- going to have a go (also respray)

Some bloody good work there mate. I'm about to start working on mine, all the same standard issue rot. I have the additional challenge that I need to work outside - I have a workshop, just no way to get the car in. So loads of priming/temp waterproofing in between shifts for me, and careful picking ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] MR2 TDI

Thanks rs007 :) I'll be transferring across the whole engine and gearbox into the MR2. Then the gearing will be right for the engine. I've then go to choose some wheels (most likely lexus) and select the right tire to give me the same circumference as the toledo wheels (or bigger for longer gearing...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Got a few lights flickering up? Maybe Alternator but there is a curve ball!

Had that same issue Peter mentions; it was him that pointed me in that direction too. Black and yellow wire on a rev2, seems to string all the sensors together and feed em' with voltage... it breaks down in the loom, I'm guessing at the splice points - haven't had it out to inspect yet. I just ran a...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Which turbo for quick spool

Guys since power is a fabricated figure from a formula, and revs is part of that equation, obviously anything that allows the engine to rev higher is going to create a more impressive (on paper) hp figure. So arguing over revving and peak HP on a thread about quicker spool and grunt in the lower reg...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] MR2 TDI

Love this idea, the modern(ish)TDI engine could be great fun with the right diff; way more low down grunt than any petrol, meaning far more controllable steer-from-the-rear driving... although what you are saving on 28p a litre fuel, you might end up having to spend on rear tyres :D My daily runner ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Snapped off heads?

Those stud extractors are nigh on useless - if a bolt is so siezed its head snaps off, then the stud extractor will just snap too - leaving a piece of hardened steel right there. Horrible things.

Careful drilling with quality bits and retapping - only way IMO

Re: [All] [Generic] MR2 MK2 Complete Paint Overhaul

I've got admiration for anyone willing to take on jobs like this themselves, as a nation we've become accustomed to thinking the only way is to hand over piles of cash for stuff, and have someone else do it. We've grown lazy. Sure, a pro will obviously have done a better job, but the fact is you don...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Minor engine rattle....

This symptom has occured in the past, and its been the support bearing that is on the long drive shaft. Sounds mad i know, but mines had it. It can either be worn, or the little rubber tipped screw that helps secure it can lose its tip. It rattles in that rev range in neutral, and its basically righ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] which intercooler kit?

I've read of a few concerns about the routing of the piping on the HKS intercooler on the MR2, someone else may be able to expand on this. Yeah its ridiculous - I can't comment on the efficiency of the core versus an ebay bar and plate job (gut feeling tells me won't be THAT diff, certainly not eno...
