I only tried a small amount of heat.
How do you jamb it without box? I tried using the stud but it was forced out when I turned bolt.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Crank pulley bolt removal - engine out of car
Thanks ashley, can try that but means putting box back on.
basher - didn't think of jamming crank, will try that first. I'm using a good gun but don't think it will move it. I only have a small blowtorch for heat and it didn't help.

Impact guns don't move it.
Anything else I could try?

Re: Jobs to do while engines out? (Rev2 Turbo)
I have fully rebuilt the engine that's going in, I used a new water pump, but given the oil pump was within spec and not scored ect I used the existing one.
Will most probably be using a new clutch (depending what I find when I split box) but still can't decide which one to use.

Jobs to do while engines out? (Rev2 Turbo)
Whilst I have my engine out, are there any jobs I should do while I have access?
I'm replacing it with a rebuilt motor with steel head gasket and new HFH ect.
Going to replace front and rear engine mounts, and suspension bushes seeing as though its in bits.
Anything else I should be doing?

[Mk2] [Turbo] Best method for engine removal/refitting
Head gasket has gone (Rev 2), have a rebuilt engine (with steel gasket) so just going to swap whole thing. Is it best to drop engine out the bottom? (that's how I did it on my old GT4s) If so should I take out suspension/wheels with it or disconnect drive shafts? Have tried searching but can only fi...

What bolts are you using? The standard cross head screws are difficult to tighten properly and vibrate loose, I just fitted cap screws to mine to try and stop this.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] What's people's thoughts on wrapping hot and cold intercooler pipes?
I did a fair bit of reading, in the end I wrapped the cold pipe but not the hot pipe - apparently the engine bay temp is higher than the cold pipe but lower than the hot pipe, so the hot pipe can loose some heat to the engine bay.
Don't know if it helps as I did it as part of my intercooler install.

Turned out to be the relay, seemed to switch OK but tried a spare on it and pump came on.

Re: Should power steering pump run constantly when ignition is on?
Mine was doing it, I removed one of the leads from the pump relay to stop it firing up whilst I traced a fault, put lead back on, now its not coming on.
Any ideas what it could be?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] What diameter of pipe to use for new intercooler?
I mean the pipes, not the silicone hoses, I would use a 2 1/4'' to 2 1/2'' silicone pipe on the intercooler.

[Mk2] [Turbo] What diameter of pipe to use for new intercooler?
Rev 2 Turbo
Have fitted a new intercooler, need to sort out pipes now.
The ends of the intercooler are 2 1/4" OD, should I use 2 1/4'' pipes, or would there be any benefit of using 2 1/2''?

I thought it must be getting spark and fuel as it catches after about 30 secs and then runs fine.

[Mk2] [Turbo] Not running on cylinder number 4 until warm
Rev 2 turbo
when started from cold, cylinder no 4 dosent catch for about 30 seconds.
Plugs, rotor and cap are all recent, gap is fine on the plug.
What could be causing this?
