Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Do uprated cams help reduce turbo lag?
You could have Anti-lag setup on an aftermarket ECU. This changes the cam timing so that at low engine speeds the combustion exits the exhaust ports and keeps the turbo spinning. It's what rally cars do. It's not advisable in a road car  Thats not correct, anti-lag infact alters the ign timing...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Do uprated cams help reduce turbo lag?
Volumetric Effeciency. Basically how effeciently the engine can pump air. The more air the engine can pump, the more torque is made. If you want less lag you might want to consider a V6 conversion  You'll never get a 3S-GTE to be as lag free as the modern 4 pot turbos like in the Megane and Gol...

Re: Need to test drive a Tubby! (SW London)
rev5 turbos seem to be over-priced at the moment, imo. Especially when you consider what £6k can buy you these days (e.g RX8). Take your time and you'll be able to find a really nice example. There are a lot of dogs out there too. Airbags will only help if you drive into the back of someone! You nee...

Re: Need to test drive a Tubby! (SW London)
i couldnt be ar$ed with having to worry about the cat issue come MOT time. Tune it til my hearts content and emissions test should never be an issue, but thats just my reasoning..... Rev3s can pass MOT without CAT as long as it's a pre Aug1995. With the prices of rev3s so low at the moment, he'd be...

Re: Need to test drive a Tubby! (SW London)
make sure you get a rev3 or later These have 245bhp as standard and are more tuneable than the earlier cars. 270bhp is simply a boost increase away, no other mods required

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Suspension options
Thinking to keep cost down I may just go for the stock toyota struts, but spings i'm still stuck on. I don't want to go too low, the cars too low at present. So use stock springs :thumleft: ](*,) Any one any experience with Apex, AVO or Eibach springs on stock struts? I had Eibachs with Black Billi...

Yeah, not something a non-mechanic should tackle.
SkyWalker (pacific works) will do it for £80.
I noticed a huge improvement on my car after gutting the CAT

Gut the stock CAT. 100% reliable and probably 90% the same performance.

Re: Correct tyre sizes for 8.5j and 9.5j
I'd have thought that 215 width tyres would be extremely stretched on 8.5J wheels. 225 is the smallest you'd normally put on a 8in wheel, so you probably want 235.

Re: NA springs softer than Turbo springs?
dampers stop the springs from oscillating freely. They control the compression, which can increase overall "stiffness" and they control the re-bound, which if too high can make the car seem too bouncy on bumpy surfaces. That's how I understand it, and I realise that the above is a very ove...

Re: NA springs softer than Turbo springs?
dont know about spring rates or anything like that ,but iv got a turbo(standard )and the original japanese susp parts are bilstein and its def a firmer ride than my n/a (standard as well)so i reckon they are different :? That's because the dampers are Bilstein on the Turbos, which gives the firmer ...

NA springs softer than Turbo springs?
BenF commented in another thread that for a given revision of mk2 MR2, the NA engined cars have softer springs than the Turbo cars. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I'm interested because my plan is to dump the ageing Tein HAs on my Rev3 Turbo and fit Yellow Bilsteins and stock springs. The springs ...
