Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] what power with this lot?

I never spotted the 1 bar part.
I would have thought that it may run a bit more than 260 but agree it will be around that.

Turn up the boost boy! You have the cooling and protection there to be safe.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] what power with this lot?

I would have thought that you may get 330 at the fly as a max.
Thats only from what I have seen others giving with similar spec.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] My Christmas (photos of wreck included)

Well said Harry. Alan, you talk as if nothing is ever going to go wrong in a car. You have more or less said you are glad of Matts crash and hope it's taught him a lesson. What if a member of your family went out, drove down the road, around a corner and hit oil causing them to spin and crash result...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] My Christmas (photos of wreck included)

No I am not missing the point! Even if a car snaps and spins with little/no warning you will have a better chance of recovery if you have some good car control. Not saying that matt doesn't or didn't do what he could at the time. A driving course would not help him as it's happend but it may be very...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] My Christmas (photos of wreck included)

Matt Glad that you are ok and live to tell the tail. That could happen to anyone of us. I must say though, I am very shocked by some of your comments. Some of you make it sound like the MR2 is a beast to drive. I am always amazed at the feedback nearing the limit and the progressivness of the cars. ...

Yeah, I did my old turbo and gutted the cat and remember doing the top ones dead easy and struggling like hell on the lower ones.
Worth it in the end though.

[Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo timer help

I bought a Trust/Greddy turbo timer from an IMOCer and fitted today. It came with a wiring harness so was dead easy to fit. It works fine other than when the keys are out and its counting down you can't lock the car. Once it has finished and the car is off the doors then lock. The alarm is a Sigma. ...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Decat question

I recently bought a decat pipe for my rev3 tubby from GTSChris. Today I took off all the heat sheilds and soaked all the nuts and bolts in WD40. I counted 7 in total but looking at the dp there is only 6 holes for the studs! Does one of them not get used or something??

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Aftermarket parts need fitting/ rr set up, where to go?

Hi

You have nothing to really set up on a rolling road, no ecu or piggyback to play with so just fit all your bits and set boost at around 1 bar to be safe. Then save up for a piggyback or standalone ecu and get it mapped to make the most of your mods.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Odd Turbo Noises, now with photos!

99% sure it's the bov. The stock ones get to a point on light throttle where the boost builds and the fart, cough, sneeze, sound like you just stranggled a goose. If like you say you put your foot down more it goes. To test it is this, disconnect the pipe that would recirculate into the intake. Make...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] hello peeps things a guy at work told me and other things

Yeah but that chipping mate, as in super chips crap. Not a piggyback. Probably is being taken a bit too far, Mines ECU is fine if it was mapped for that car and with the same mods and petrol, once it's over here the petrol is different and thus needs mapping again. We can arure/talk/discuss this all...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] hello peeps things a guy at work told me and other things

If that is all you want then I would go for an after market exhaust with decat pipe a good air filter a unichip uprated intercooler to keep thing under control. You should be looking at aroune 280 ish bhp which is around230-240 at the wheels. Have a look at other guys specs and see what you think is...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] hello peeps things a guy at work told me and other things

No. You just wire the unichip in, complete with boost module that helps when mapping then go and find someone to map it. They will alter fuel, timing etc to get the best out of you car and mods and still keep it safe.

What are your power goals?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] hello peeps things a guy at work told me and other things

For moddest power gains they are.
If you are getting into bigger turbos and lots more power then I agree. There are a fair few people running 300+ on a unichip

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] hello peeps things a guy at work told me and other things

No, unichip is piggyback. Power FC is stand alone but is about £350 to buy and £250 ish to map.

The biggest question is how much power do you want, longterm power I mean.???

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] hello peeps things a guy at work told me and other things

I am 99% that that is the case. They were fitted to cars in japan and mapped there. I think the problem is that we dont have the software in the uk. A few hundred. Unichip is about a £100 and £150 tomap at Millway, should get you near 270bhish

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] hello peeps things a guy at work told me and other things

Yeah it probably has to be honnest.
I would ditch the mines and ebay it and fit either a unichip or power fc.
Mines can't be mapped in this country.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] hello peeps things a guy at work told me and other things

Your by far best fitting a EBC, electronic boost controller as this is far better for many reasons. You can have set levels of boost for different levels of performance. It is adjustable in the car. Will not go above a set limit and will beep to warn you of boost spikes. This will cost you about £20...
