Re: Engine Rebuild?
Hi Fred and welcome to the forum :D I'd get those exhaust leaks sorted first, that won't be helping. Does the air filter have a heat shield?, a few years back my rev1 came with a hks mushroom filter which was awful. I found going back to the standard air box was much better. An engine rebuild for 7 ...

Re: So, my windscreen has just cracked...
I find myself in a similar position, only my screen is having to come out to repair some rust. Just tell them it has a bronze tinted screen (as opposed to blue or green). Part number for outer seal is 75533-17030. Is that the only part that's required Peter? I've been searching and not really made s...

Lightning McQueen @ Parklands Toyota nr Truro
Spotted an R plate 2 with rust-eze decals at toyota yesterday (friday 11th), when I dropped in for a thermostat, looked like it'd been in for MOT.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] HELP!! Car wont run!
yep, just whip a lead off and see if it arcs to metal, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE INSULATED YOURSELF FIRST!!! if no spark then i think you can check the coil with a multimeter - I wouldn't try grounding it. take a look at page IG8 on here: http://www.lovehorsepower.com/bgb/mechanical/volume1/ignition_system...

Have you checked for a spark, could be a coilpack.

New Car
Picked up my new Rev 3 Turbo yesterday and am completely besotted with it already!! don't get me wrong, I love the turbo I have been driving up till now, but the new one is such a 'together' car - its most definitely a keeper. Specs: 1993 Rev 3 Turbo Unknown Induction Kit Powerflow exhaust (makes a ...

Spent this morning changing the cam cover gasket but when it came to tightening up the cover bolts the middle front one sheared and cracked the whole cover I didn't even tighten it up fully!
Where's the best place to get a replacement?
oh, BTW I've got a Rev3 Turbo.

Re: Speed Sensor is sending me loco!! (code 42)
Hi All I've been away this past week so haven't been able to get any further until today. Anyway, I found that the speed signal wire had been cut and wired into what looks like a loom for a boost controller, so I re-connected the purple wire up and went for a drive and Hey presto! - no more engine m...

Re: Speed Sensor is sending me loco!! (code 42)
If your car is a rev3 turbo and doesn;t have a converter then it should be reading in kilometres up to 180kmh or miles up to 110mph. If a UK speedo has been fitted then it will be MPH up to 160. If your dashboard reads in MPH up to 180 then you have a converter fitted and this is the source of your...

Re: Speed Sensor is sending me loco!! (code 42)
Forgot to mention the alarm!!! The car has a Clifford G4 Concept 600 in it - I have downloaded and checked the install manual and cannot find any reference to a speed sensor feed - so one explanation may be that a break was created when the alarm was fitted. I'll follow the cable from the ecu...

Re: Speed Sensor is sending me loco!! (code 42)
yeah, car is standard - although it is early days and i'm still finding out new stuff all the time. I know the engine was rebuilt about 10 years ago and It had a hks boost controller at some point (the solenoid was still in the engine bay) and there are a couple of questionable wires in the bay but ...

Re: Speed Sensor is sending me loco!! (code 42)
Your problem is with the purple and white wire.from the clocks back to the ecu.simPle continuity test should tell all Thanks for the suggestions, I have tested the wire from the speedo to the ecu and from the speedo to the power steering ecu - and neither of which show a connection. I am now contem...

Speed Sensor is sending me loco!! (code 42)
Ever since I bought my car a couple of months ago, it has been suffering from a code 42 when I read the codes off the ECU. The speedometer has always worked fine and the code is thrown when the car gets up to operating temperature and exceeds roughly 2500 rpm. I managed to get my hands on a cheap se...
