Re: [Mk2] [Generic] fault finding Clutch pedal on the floor !

all good stuff, thanks for input on clutch bleeding.

I got the slave cylinder off and found .............

the release arm moves freely. ie NO tension, so some part of the sprung release mechanism has broken within the clutch mechanism.

damn it :pale: gearbox out next job ?

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] fault finding Clutch pedal on the floor !

thanks Slarty for reply, i'm thinking of just going ahead and replacing both cylinders to hopefully cure the problem. Dont know if anyone knows of chepaer places ? , but ebay (UK) looks like 150 for both, Camskill is cheaper at 130 incl postage, local motor factors Jayar was 150+vat. There was a pos...

[Mk2] [Generic] fault finding Clutch pedal on the floor !

Hi, about 2 miles from home the clutch pedal stayed on the floor and didnt return ! You could flick it up again with your foot but then stayed down and didnt dis-engage the clutch either. So jamming it into 1st, then spent a rather stressfull 2 miles getting home ! Having SEARCHED, it seems t...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] BC Racing coilovers - noise

I remember a previous post on this relating to Ksports, but the answer was to apply grease bweteen the springs and the rubber pad/perch tops. Its due to the springs trying to turn and the grease allows smooth movement rather than a jerky 'twang' ! I did have this noise and for sure the grease solved...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] How to quieten my modified Turbo exhaust....?

Interesting idea! Gonna sap power, but would be ideal for the track day Db tests, drive bys, motorway slogs or pootling around town. :thumleft: Would like to hear from a real life user though as to just how effective it is. If you're trick with some electrics you could even put a servo on it and ha...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Sound Deadening

I did this to my 92 NA. I removed the center consol to remove the back pannel and used carpet underlay (hair type) and stuffed it into every cranny. You will have to remove both seats to get access to the back panel and give yourself working room. As all the noisy bits are at the back I only went a...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Sound Deadening

i must admit too i find the mr2 a bit noisy. I dont think you can ever make a noisy car quiet but you can at least improve matters. I think the clue into where the sound proofing should be applied is where the OEM stuff is. For example the carpet on the bulkhead has a thick layer there, so at least ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Fitting extended wheel studs

agree with previous comments, just to add - rather than use the wheel as a spacer i used a 1/2 inch socket as the spacer, that way - you can see whats going on - ie how much further you need to pull the stud through.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] audi v8 in a 355 replica

extreme are doing an audi engine conversion but i think that relies on moving the rear suspension back to gain the room - so now you've done paint its probably not the best option for you ? Since the V6 transplant is prooved, how about a V6 turbo option ? Then different noise and loads of power. No ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Coilover math

Yes, the drivers side was the lower one ! My difference was about 12mm, but i did specify softer springs so that could explain the difference. I tried to get the measuring surface level by making platforms of thin plywood (ie stacked to get the right height ) then putting a spirit level across to ge...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Coilover math

I ask since when i fitted my k sports even though i set the coilovers up identically, the drop was more on one side - uneven weight distribution side to side ? ( all 4 wheels level, and all arb disconnected ). Nick, what have you done to level it up? I ask this as have the same problem with my Apex...

you cant have the tube just any where in the down pipe as its not under enough pressure coming from the housing and bypassing the impellor is at its highest preasure,That is what gives it such a unique sound.in the down pipe it is hardly under any pressure.1st step u needa turbo with a visibly diff...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Screamer Pipes

sorry can't see it working how would you get a EBC to run a wastegate and the actuator correctly? i would be interested to know why ? in my mind the simplicity of this idea is that whatever wastegate control you have is left exactly as is - or is there something else i'm not understanding about ble...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Screamer Pipes

IF ? i understand this correctly - the sceamer pipe is the vent for the wastegate which is unsilenced exhaust gas hence the volume..... So ...... how about for the same effect with minumum change , leave the internal wastegate as it is and simply add an additional small port on the downpipe ? Then y...

Another point, if someone had built the car themselves i would have hugh respect for the amount of work that kit cars take to build whatever the model. If it has been bought as ready built just to drive under the impression its a real one, then its not quite so impressive but regardless it is the in...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] EXtreme Murcielago

its a very good replica, but its not a 355. Check the black triangular panel between the door glass and the rear quarter glass. The other point is the butress surround on the rear window is curved where a 355 one is more square. BUT ! dont get me wrong i think it is VERY VERY good with a correct 355...
