Re: What is better, a mark2 or a mark3?
Well, I drove one of the very first Mk3's in the country back in 2000 or so(?). Thought it handled very very well and was quite nippy. A couple of years on I got my Rev3 turbo and from memory I don't think that handled as well as the roadster. I dislike the cheap-feeling interior of the Mk3, am not...

Re: What is better, a mark2 or a mark3?
I know what you mean mate, keeping it on the edge.
Only trouble with that is that it might be straining the engine keeping it on the red-line all the time?

Re: What is better, a mark2 or a mark3?
With 180bhp it will still be quicker than a standard tubby, given it is 300 odd kg lighter lauren sorry but thats nonsense, hes talking about a rev3 with 245bhp stock which gives it a power to weight ratio of around 195bhp per ton (1280kg) a mk3 running at 180bhp and weighing 975kgs returns 184bhp p...

Re: What is better, a mark2 or a mark3?
LOL yeah being honest they are so different cars they can't be compaired. i.e. not even the same price bracket except for late turbos the mk3 has ZERO storage making it only really good as a commute to work or blast on weekend car, whereas you can as said actually go on holiday with the Mrs in a mk...

LOL http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/MRS_Turbo_Stage_3_Fitte-MRSTS3_Install.asp Probably not the best idea in the world to show a screencap of a dyno and reveal that you have a picture editing program open too http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/images/mrs_turbo1.jpg  Lol, yeah I noticed that too! :)

Re: What is better, a mark2 or a mark3?
Having a bit of an argument with my mates about the mark2 and the mark3. I personally prefer the mark2, nicer shape (especially with a body kit on! ;-) ) and they prefer the mark3. I heard that the mark2 was better handling than the mark3 too? But they say otherwise. What do you guys think? Also th...

Re: What is better, a mark2 or a mark3?
Personally, I prefer the mark 2, However - you won't get an unbiased view here because most mark3 owners - are on www.mr2roc.co.uk - just the way it is... 8-[ p.s. there is a mk3 turbo (mr s) - which passed Euro 3 emissions - (but fails Euro 4 ) http://www.mr2roc.org/subdreamer/index.php?cate...

Re: Converting From 3SFE to 16v N/A?
Not sure what my mate has then! I know its not turbo charged, and is just a flat 250bhp. so to sum up a V engine has more torgue at lower revs, about the same as a vtec? Is the vtec simialr to a normal inline then? Whats a double over head cam? I know you have a cambelt going round the camshaft keep...

Re: Converting From 3SFE to 16v N/A?
How do you rate the new rotary engine? Look pretty impressive but I dont like the sound of them compared to normal engines, dont sound as meaty when reved up! Is the flat the same power, etc as the v6? v6 is the smallest v isnt it? I think the biggest I have heard of is a v12? possibly more? What ab...

Re: Converting From 3SFE to 16v N/A?
Arrrr... that makes sense! :) Cheers dude. \:D/ So a V engine is generally more powerful than a inline 4? What about a flat? Is that more powerful than a V? The number after the letter is always how much cylinders it has so a V6 has 6 cylinders? I assume also a V6 can have different numbers of valve...

Re: Converting From 3SFE to 16v N/A?
No, it just says DOHC inline 4, im not a mech so im not sure what that means? But I do know the engine later on 3SGE actualyl says DOCH 16v so to me that may imply that the earlier 3SFE may not be 16v?

Oh right, cool.

Only problem of putting a V6 or turbo in means replaceing other parts too like gearbox, etc.
Do you by any chance know the full list of parts that would need to be replaced/modified to handle these bigger engines?
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Also, a rough cost too?

Cheers.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Re: Converting From 3SFE to 16v N/A?
Probably another stupid question but what is a beams engine? :-k My current engine has 111k miles on it but the replacement one has 147k, so I wasn't sure if it was a good idea or not? But from what has been said on the forum is that it is in really good condition and has been well looked after, plu...
