Whats wrong with EBC then?
I heard OEM discs and pads would be best? At least for road use...
What are carbotechs and how do they compare to OEM?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] How easy is it to swap speakers for after market ones
Ok thanks guys. In the end I have replaced the stock back speakrs with 6x9's as a temp measure. Will the stock wiring be fine for that? What 6x9's do people recommend? THe ones I had were so hold that they broke up a lot, tried a few one halfords, which were better but still broke up when you get to...

Had 4 wheel alignment done, but not camber yet so hopefully that will help...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Help! URGENT! Horrid metal on metal grinding sound!!! :(
Ok thanks for the info guys, it could be the pads weren't fitted correctly. That would explain why the brakes dont feel as responsive as I would expect, I guess? That horrid noise went away after I got my car back from the garage when they balanced the front wheels. They said they couldnt see anythi...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Help! URGENT! Horrid metal on metal grinding sound!!! :(
On the way to work today, started getting a horrid grinding metal on metal sound! I was pretty convinced it had to be the brake caliper being stuck on the disc, but the places I dropped it off to get the rear tires changed said the front wheels were turning freely and looked ok to them! But it can't...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Which discs do you recommend?
Was thinking of getting grooved, vented and drilled discs, but wasnt sure if having all of them would reduce the structural integrity of discs and make them more likely to crack or something?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Steering wheel still shaking...
Ok will do thanks guys. Im beginning to think it could be the brakes sticking. I know the brake discs are warped slightly since get the same sort of shaking under heavy braking. But it use to only be under heavy braking, not all the time! Also noticed the metal guards that are behind the discs have ...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Steering wheel still shaking...
When I 1st got my car, it was fine up to about 100 then, the steering wheel would start shaking. I got my brakes bled by a tyer firm, and since I got it back it started shaking violenting at about 60. They said it was because it needed Spiggot rings, after finally sourcing and fitting the correct si...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Which tire sizes do you recommend?
Ok thanks guys. Yeah im getting the rears changed to 225/45/17 tomorrow, that should be fine though? They dont have any 225/40/17's. I noticed the handling was a bit wobbly at speed, back kinda moving about a bit, feels really ropey in corners and not safe! Hoping the 225's on the back should help...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Which tire sizes do you recommend?
Ok thanks guys. Only problem is I already now have 235/40/17s on the back, is that going to cause a problem? They are the new Eagle F1 Asymetric 2 ones though so hopefully they can take the strain? Its not dangerous having too much sidewall flex is it? Wont cause a blow out or anything like that? 8-[

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Car reving between 2 and 3k on idle!
It basically just revs around 2k when idle, sometimes going up to 2.5 to 3k. Its as if the pedal or throttle cable may be sticking, since if I pull the pedal up with my foot, the revs drop slightly until I release it again. The same with the throttle cable, if I pull towards rear of car, revs drop u...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Which tire sizes do you recommend?
Yeah looked on the inside but couldnt see anything that looked like sizes, all it had were numerous different stamps which were:
on central hub area:
+47
02/12
Then different stamps round outside:
C133 Ja3 33
H 12 11 12
H 1214 108
73221 17X7JJ - may be model no?
Mean anything to anyone?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Which tire sizes do you recommend?
How do I find out the wheel width and offset then?
I tried measuring the wheel with a tape measure so very rough estimate was about 8.5"and 215mm.
I tried looking for stamps on it but none looked like any sort of size.
Would 235 or 245 fit?
