As the title says I lowered the car with these http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140083893670. Now since putting them on every time i go over a speed bump I hear a metallic click which sounds like it coming from the front right. I have taken that side back off and it looks like t...

[Mk2] [NA] Thinking of freshening up my standard Rev 1

Ok here's the story. I've recently come into a few quid and have looked after the bills n loans n xxxx. I have some money left over and am thinking about updating my standard rev 1 n/a. Not going down the engine tuning road beyond a decat and induction kit (for the sound more than anything else) as ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] How do you mount these wheel spacers.

Thanks for the replys. I've no problem grinding down the studs by a few mm if necessary. Not sure if my wheels have the slots mentioned cut into the back of the hub i'll check when i'm tackling the job. Either way its no big deal to crack out the grinder. Just a tip for anyone looking at this in the...

[Mk2] [Generic] How do you mount these wheel spacers.

Im looking at getting these spacers http://www.icetronix.com/index.aspx?page=display_product&category=spacers&id=1115 Now from what I can see you mount the spacer to the hub on the existing studs with the nuts provided and mount the wheel to the 5 new studs on the spacer with your original n...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Please help me identify this part.

I always place axle stands under the rear subframe. Its good and strong and very secure. Its the cross member running across the width of the car between the rear wheels.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Rear ARB removal (how?)

Unfortunately through experience I found this is the only way to replace rear ARB's. I just followed the workshop manual step by step and got through it relatively painlessly it does however take a while. I was at it for 4 hours as it was my first time. I reckon I could do it in 2 and a half now i k...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] import restricted i think

I see thes de-limiters work on the electronic speedos on rev2+ cars what about the rev1 mechanical speedos. Is there a de-limiter available for those or can the electronic one be modified in some way to work?

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Need advice on rear wheel bearing replacement REV 1

Cheers Jeff looks kinda daunting but I've rebuild motorbikes from the frame up dozens of times and done some minor stuff on cars in the past few years. I reckon I can get this done if I put my mind to it.
Nice one. :thumleft:

[Mk2] [NA] Running rough when warming up (Hesitation)

I've been having some problems with my rev1 n/a lately. When i start it up all is fine, runs fine and idles fine about 1200 RPM. Thats when stone cold. Now as the engine starts to get warm about 2/3 mins into a journey it starts to run very rough and hesitates badly. I can be holding a steady thrott...

[quote="screech205"]That is correct mate, all rear wheel bearings are the same between all revisions and tubby/na. Would have thought fronts are different to rears tho :-k Your right, I phrased that wrong. I meant the fronts are the same across the range and the rears are the same across t...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Are rev1 rear wheel bearing different to later models?

For the record it looks like the entire range (Turbo and N/A) use the same wheel bearings front and rear. Thats according to my research I stand to be corrected tho.

[Mk2] [NA] Are rev1 rear wheel bearing different to later models?

My Rev1 N/A has just failed its vehicle inspection on its nearside rear wheel bearing and the same side lower ball joint. I have located the ball joint they seem to be the same throughout the range and fairly inexpensive. I can only find this http://www.roguemotorsport.com/forms/Product.aspx?ID=419 ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] lambda sensor

I got a sensor off e-bay a month ago cos i kept getting an error code 21. Since I have installed it i've not had any errors. MPG is no better though. Im getting 250ish miles to 50 litres in my rev 1 n/a not great, I'd like more but she's a thirsty motor. The sensor cost £18 plus delivery obviously i...
