Re: Manual to AUTOMATIC conversion

Sell your car and buy an auto, it's seriously not worth the aggro.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 3 and Decat

Technically you don't *need* one after that date either, it's just that the emission levels become much stricter, so it becomes much harder without one. My '96 scrapes through without a cat.

Re: [MK2] [Turbo] Oil consumption, where is it going???

It can be hard to see in daylight - go for a spin at night time, wait until you have headlights behind and nail it, you'll soon see if you have any/much smoke - shows up very clearly. (Be safe when doing it though obviously!) Although some cars run rich and a little black smoke is normal, but that'd...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Speed pulse wire location

I need a speed pulse (sat nav), I've done some searching and found that purple/white is the required wire but it's hazy where this appears on different gens, does anyone know if it's behind the speedo clock on a gen3?
Cheers.

Re: Manual Boost Controllers

Make sure it's a ball & spring valve (sometimes known as Grainger valve), avoid bleed valves. I used a ball&spring valve to good effect for a time.
MBCs are ok, but they're *never* as good as an EBC, but if looking for something inexpensive then they're perfect.

Re: Manual Boost Controllers

MBC are ok, it's a compromise though - obviously you get more engine load/more boost in higher gears (so be sure to set boost in 3rd gear) so you then get slightly less in 1st and 2nd, whereas EBC will continually adjust to a set boost pressure. Might be worth checking ebay out, you can pickup decen...

yes; wot

WOT is 6~10 psi over not WOT, injectors pumping fuel gives extra seal bumping the figures slightly - all in all sounds like a nice & tight engine. A large factor is variance across the 4, yours is pretty much spot on.

Did you measure it with the car in the same orientation each time? (e.g. 1st facing down a hill. 2nd facing up a hill) - just trying to eliminate the obvious!

By "more needs to be done", he means "I want some money from Gamestation". lol, that's exactly what I was about to type :) As for the Mitsubishi logo, personally I wouldn't have had a clue that indicated they were Es, I would've certainly suspected they were dodgy but having nev...

Re: tubby vs na fuel econnomy

Just filled up, I managed 265 miles from the previous tankful (gen3 tubby), this included lots of spirited driving, about 50 miles on a motorway and a fair bit of town driving. Good enough for me!
